NEW about embassy.

Due to ongoing security concerns in Yemen, U.S. Embassy Sanaa has suspended all consular services until further notice. For now, we ask U.S. citizens in need of emergency assistance to contact a U.S. embassy or consulate in a neighboring country. U.S. Embassy Sanaa is continuously analyzing the security conditions in Yemen; please check this website for updates.

The ambassador had informed them that Washington may ask the Turkish or Algerian embassies in Sanaa to look after U.S. interests in the country while the embassy was closed.

So what you're saying is that the u.s embassy with close completely and give the files to the Turkish and Algerian embassies right? To the embassies in Yemen or to the Turkish embassy is turkey? I didn't hear anything about transferring the files to any other embassy. This I the website I read from.

They didn't mention anything about transferring and if they so iisn't it a good thing?

it did not state if files would be transferred or not, Al-Jazeera had on article about it. And it is not guaranteed that Turkey or Algeria will accept anything. It was a thought in process. Maybe the NVC will be able to update individuals on the cases in process.

What everybody needs to understand is when they say the U.S will have Turkey or Algeria look after U.S interest in Yemen that doesn't mean consular work such as Visa's and what not. Usually U.S interests are political situations or even investments they have in Yemen. Basically everyone can forget even having an appointment in the next 3 months or so. Consider getting your case transferred to another country. Hopefully this post shines some light on you guys so you can understand this is only going to get worst. In Iraq where there is a full scale war in affect the embassy is still open I believe but in Yemen they decide to close down. Figures

I just filed my i/130 application for my spouse. Do you think that it would be better if I file a k/3 visa because of the situation going on in Yemen. I dont think it is safe traveling to Yemen. I dont want to be spearted from my spouse for a long time, but i keep hearing that the k/3 visa is usless for Yemenis because it take the same length both ways.
