Just that they don't hire people who don't have a green card. I must specified that I applied for jobs in banking which is where the essential of my work experience and also my education is... Sure, I could apply for a job in a fast food chain at the minimum wage (5$/hour or so) but just choose not to. I know as an immigrant I should not be that picky but at the same time, I still think that that kind of job would just make me miserable. I have much more pride about staying home and taking care of my man than flip burgers at 5$/hour...

:)

That makes sense. I totally understand not taking a minimum wage job that would make you miserable. I just got my masters before we got married and I have applied to tons of jobs and can't even get an interview so I am super frustrated. I took a part-time job to keep me busy and its way more work than what I am being paid for and I was happier staying home so stick with what you are doing!

Grats CANbirdUSman! Now you get to put your feed up and not deal with USCIS for a long time :D

So I just checked USCIS site and it switched back to card document/production from the dreaded 'decision' change. HOORAY!! I know it was fine thanks to sk8rpatty but I am still glad to see it change. Now to wait for it to ship and track it. WOO HOO!

EAD/AP combo card received yesterday and in my wallet!!

My case status on USCIS has now reverted back to "initial review" from "RFE Response Review" because I changed my address... Is that an issue that is going to set me back AGAIN?! I should've just left my address as-is, if that's the case, since we were only living at my Father-in-Law's place, so we still receive mail easily... ugh.

Yay! Glad to hear it too! I know the feeling.

Congrats to CANbirdUSman too!!!

Tomorrow morning we're driving back down with a truck full of Jordan's things. He's been pulled into secondary twice already...Once when he was picking up at Bellingham airport on Friday and again today when we drove to Bellingham to rent the truck. We expect to be there tomorrow morning with the full truck. Oh well. The guy said it was due to Jordan being flagged in the system last year when he was denied entry...before we filed for our K-1. This should be cleared up after our crossing tomorrow, at least that is what we were told. It's no problem, just takes extra time. The agent was appolgetic today but we just laughed and said we're used to it.

Not looking forward to the 1300 miles drive, but happy to be taking this final step.

sk8rpatty that has got to be annoying. Let us know how the crossing tomorrow goes!!

Just a random question - can I still use my AP card to travel to Canada now that my greencard is in production or does the greencard cancel it out and I need to wait until it arrives?

I don't have an answer to your question. Sorry

So, this morning we pull up to the border with our full truck, hand them my passport, Jordan's GC and our list of contents. He just asked when we arrived in Canada and we explain the trips to the airport and the truck rental to explain all our crossings and then he asks about fruits, vegitables or firearms and lets us go! No secondary, no search. I was shocked. The guy yesterday said he'd send an email giving a heads up to our crossing today...guess he did and it worked! Unbelievable

Anyway we're half way thru Oregon right now

Been reading about traveling on advance parole while waiting on greencard to arrive.... it looks like I might be admitted out of 'courtesy' but really shouldn't cross till I have the greencard. Something about how I am admitted to the USA, as either a parolee or a permanent resident. :(

Am I reading this forum correctly?

Update - so I scheduled an infopass appointment since I was planning to visit my family this coming weekend. Apparently they can give you an i-551 stamp in your passport. If only I'd thought to ask for it in the interview. If by some miracle the greencard comes by Wednesday I can just cancel it. Grr...thought I was done with being stuck in this country!

YAY so apparently I have a definite lack of patience, because as of a few hours ago we now have a tracking number with an ETA. So I cancelled my InfoPass appointment and should be good :)

Hey all, my green card interview is tomorrow, in Baltimore, and I was wondering if they stop you taking in anything with electronics in for example cellphone/ipod.

I ask as I know such items are restricted from the London US embassy, and don't want any holdups should we need to store our electronics back in our car?

Not only we were able to take our cell phones inside the building, but we were able even to use them while waiting. Some other people even talked on the phones! I checked us in Facebook and took some pictures with the phone! laughing.gif

We were NOT allowed to take our cell phones in Santa Ana. We watched people being turned away to take there cell phones back to their cars. I would not take the chance.

When I went for biometrics I left my phone in my car just in case, only to wait there and watch everyone else kill time on their phones. For the AOS interview we both took our phones in and had no issues. This was the Seattle office, so I guess maybe it varies from location to location.
