Has anyone had to submit a change of address form while the AOS is still pending?

We're going to be moving into our new place probably this week at some point - the address they have on file is Tom's dad's place (so it's not a problem if our mail comes there, as I've heard is apt to happen, even after going through the change of address forms).

I'm just wondering what I check off as "I'm in the US as..." - my first thought was permanent resident, but I'm not yet because AOS is still pending... so then I thought maybe I check "other" and write AOS pending in the specify field.

Anyone know?

I haven't but I'm in a similar situation. We just moved into our new home 3 weeks ago, but I haven't submitted a change of address. I've heard too many horror stories about it getting screwed up. I haven't rented my other place yet so my neighbor is picking up my mail for me. He's retired and enjoys this task, it also guarantees my visits to pick up mail. LOL

Any success stories here with address changes? Or can this come up in the interview that the address doesn't match when we show evidence that contains our new address? It can all be explained, but not sure I want to say "I didn't change it because the USCIS is too incompetent to handle an address change"

Call your change of address in. Tell them you tried to do it online, but it won't allow you too.

We did it, and all is well.

I've successfully changed my address twice.

1st change of address: Just after my POE. Did that change with online form. Confirmation number was given. (Took a computer snapshot of that. THANK goodness I did, because it wouldn't generate a confirmation for me to print off. That was a little scary, but rest assured, as long as you have a confirmation number, your good.

2nd change of address: AOS case pending. We just moved a month ago, and did our change of address over the phone. Told them we 'tried to do the change of address online but it wouldn't allow us", They did the change & gave us a confirmation number. And we've successfully received mail from the USCIS/DHS.

We're lucky to be able to get our mail from previous addresses in both cases. So 100% successful here.

Give them a call either first thing in the morning or before they close, you you're not on the phone all day.

Or do the form online.... *MAKE sure you get that confirmation number!!*

Received notice yesterday afternoon that my husband's EAD/AP card is approved. Glad that part is done. No interview date or anything for the AOS. I try and read a lot, but I'm getting a little lost in the process. Do a lot of K-1's have AOS interviews or not really, and should we know by now if we do? Also, if we don't have an interview, does it just stay at the NBC or does it get transferred to a service center? Just trying to get my head wrapped around this a bit better. blush.gif

YAY Houston! haha Thanks for the info, I thought the same about the interviews. I am confident in our paperwork. I just need to go over the timelines for AOS so I know what to expect, but for now my husband will be preparing for his written/road driving test so once he get his card we can take care of that right away. Have you guys done that yet?

Adjusting from K-1 here and our interview is next week. It sounds like location may have more to do with it. Who knows. We have still not heard a word on his EAD/AP. The USCIS web site still says the case numbers cannot be found. I'm glad we got all the updates for the AOS and the interview or we would be quite worried right now.

Jordan has been driving with his Canadian license and was able to register the car he drove here from Canada. California wouldn't let him do anything for the license until he could show residency (EAD or GC) He's been studying for the test though and will take it as soon as he receives his docs. We're lucky that State Farm will insure you with a Canadian license.

He registered it here. We drove the car down years ago from Vancounver and left it at my house. (old car couldn't make the trip back without a lot of work. LOL ) It was not easy. It took 4 trips to the DMV and a trip to the CBP office in Long Beach to get it done. Luckily the car was originally purchased in the states so it was a US spec car, which helped.
