Hello fellow Canuckers...

I'm writing this here in our little country forum because this is specific to our process.

There are many posts about adding MORE evidence to the NVC package before submitting it. Is it really NOT necessary for us to do so?

I have also read that USCIS often doesn't even send the evidence we initially sent to NVC. Obviously we would bring a copy to the interview but do you feel we need to add to it between now and then?

My next questions is if my USC husband is able to attend the interview with me, what should he bring with him, if anything?

Nope, Canadians don't need to send any more evidence at the NVC stage, unless you have some major red flags. But, for the general case, no, not needed at all. Keep in mind, Montreal is one of the easiest places to interview. The interview itself typically takes less than 5 minutes, and on average, don't ask for any evidence. It's definitely still a good idea to bring some, but I bet with 90% certainty that they won't ask to see anything.

And like Flames said, he'd only need his US passport, along with your passport, the interview letter, and DHL/Loomis confirmation to gain entry into the consulate.

I suppose for me, the only outstanding item is custody paperwork. The only paperwork I sent at the USCIS stage was my final divorce order. This did NOT include custody arrangements.

Is that something I should send or just wait for them to ask for it? I realize I'm altering the topic a bit but definitely could use some thoughts here now that we're getting down to crunch time. Do I just bring it all with me?

As far as I know, that isn't included in the packages at NVC. If anything, at the interview and/or POE. I didn't (and still don't) have kids, so not sure how that would work.

I'm starting to think I should stop OVER-thinking. I have sole custody though my ex-husband has visitation every other weekend. He knows we are moving and is OK with it. He is too lazy to bother writing a letter as I have asked for. I have a notarized letter from my lawyer from 2 years ago stating I have sole custody and verifying the attached copy. I was planning to get another certified copy from the court to have on-hand as well.

Technically the drive is not so long that we couldn't make our current visitation schedule work. However we both know it won't be the case. I just want to cover all my bases. I'm afraid of missing something and wrecking all our efforts.

I'm not sure if it's needed at the interview or POE, but is there no way he can write up a letter saying he knows you're immigrating to the US with the children and is okay with it? What if you type it up and just have him sign it? Like you said, you should cover all bases.
