NOA2 appears lost in mail

I recieved our NOA2 document in the mail and mailed it to my fiance in the Phiilipines on Dec. 14th. She has not recieved it as of today. I am beginning to get a little worried that it may be lost in the mail. I mailed it US postal service.

My question is what if the doc. never reaches my fiance ? Do I need to get a duplicate from USCIS or NVC ? Has anyone experienced this ?

Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry to say but you made a mistake sending anything to RP via US Postal. I am sure you have a copy so now just send the copy to her via UPS or another carrier (NOT USPS). SHe will getthe USPS mailed one in about 3-5 months hopefully when she is nestled next to you in the states lol. I am serious as I lived there and learned the hard way. I plan on sending my entire package with NOA2 Letter, my new letter of intent, 325form and fiancials etc. via UPS or Fed Ex (still undecided). Just re-send via another carrier and she will have it all in less than a week.

One last idea is send her to the post office and see if the letter is laying there. You might get lucky. Don't wait for them to deliver.

Good luck

Shawn

you made a huge mistake sending the original, as a copy would have sufficed.

Also, the NOA-2 is not needed at the IV unit in the PI. It's needed when/if an adjustment of status casefile is filed, after marriage.

So, if, indeed, you sent the original and have no copies what so ever -

might as well file for an official copy with USCIS, paying the fee for it,

as you'll need it later, for Adjustment of Status.

You might be thinking she needs SOME document to get the medical done or scheduled at the IV Unit...

That's sorta right, but it must show the MNL casefile #, not the WAC/EAC casefile #.

You could, instead, call into NVC, get the MNL casefile # with a human, then email the # to yer lass.

She will use this number to schedule an interview ONLINE with the Manila IV unit,

then once she's successfully scheduled, a letter is made available for download BY HER that contains the MNL #,

and it's THIS letter that the medical folk want to see. Not any NOA-2 document, whatsoever (it won't contain the MNL #, alas, so it's not useful for the stuff she needs to accomplish in the PI)

I must ask - WHY did you send the original NOA-2 to her?

Going cheap is not the way at this stage, or any part of this process. USPS is not very reliable for the PI, it all go’s through phi-post and can take a-long time, or never......

Thanks for the replys...I do have a copy of the NOA2 so if she does not recieve it this week I will send her a copy via UPS. I had sent her the original because I thought she would need it for her interview :bonk: Live and learn I guess..sounds like that if it is truly lost I can get a duplicate for later when she is here.

Again, thanks for the replys and hopefully somebody can learn from my stupidity.

she doesn't need it for the interview.

it's nice to have, that's all.

you can SCAN IT, email it to her, SHE can print it out there.

No UPS mailing required.

OTOH, she needs your original signature on the I-134 form, so prepare that now or nowish.

Good Luck !

It might be delayed due to the holidays. Our recent mail from America has taken 3 weeks or so, when it usually takes no longer than 9 days.

3/26/18 Biometrics
