HCMC sent me an email stating that they sent out the Packet 3 to her 10-23, but she still didn't get it yet. How long does it actually take to send mail from HCMC to Hanoi? Anyone living in Hanoi or have someone that lives in Hanoi that can give me an estimate please.

Thank you,

Secret Lurker

The consulate sent ours out October 26 and my fiancee lives in Bien Hoa about an hour and half taxi ride away. she still has yet to recieve her packet 3. Hanoi is a 3 day train ride.

Hope this gives you some idea... it is slow...

Can you ask your honey what the deal is with the mail there? Why does it take so long? Are they riding bycicles? Are they walking? I have asked mine and she doesn't know why it takes so long. I explained to her that our mail service piggy-backs on commercial airline flights.

Maybe they've got some secret trail that leads from HCM through Laos and Cambodia that they have to first travel through to get to Hanoi.

My wife lived in HCMC and we waited almost 3.5 weeks for ours. As a note it would apper that from the time HCMC said it was mailed and it was actually mailed was almost 3 weeks so it apperes aftr it is "mailed" it can sit in some office a long time. I think the only thing you can go by is if it is longer then 3 weeks pick it up in person.

Yes I know that means a plane ride

Good Luck

J&L

as a side note there is a wide range in times for the interview date we gt a 13 day notice and i meet people that only had 8 days notice so it is sometining to call about evey week once the package 3 is in seems to take 60-90 days for an interview

The same thing happened to us, too. On 10/19 I got an email in response to my status inquiry, stating that they sent pack 3 on 10/5. My fiance never got it even as of today.

On that day 10/19 (Friday), I told her to print out the email and she went down to the consulate and picked up a replacement pack 3, and she submitted her paperwork back on 10/22.

So I suggest that you all do the same.

Tony
