I asked this in another post, but since it was a side question of another topic, I thought I should post it separately.

I would be acting as an agent for my mom, who will go through consular processing oversees. I will be submitting her DS-230 from the US, along with her civil documents. I am not clear if I should keep her original documents (she is visiting me right now), or should she have originals for the interview day.

What confused me is that LingChe's post mentions that "Standard NVC processing...documents...will be brought to the embassy". It wasn't clear if those were originals.

First, how do I determine if we'll go through Standard or Appointment Post processing?

Our local embassy in Sarajevo is listed on the page for embassies that have "developed location-specific assistance":

http://travel.state..../info_3830.html

Does that mean our country falls under Standard or Appointment Post processing?

Second, if it IS still Standard, does that mean the ORIGINAL civil documents need to be brought to the embassy during the interview, or should I still keep them and send myself with the DS-230?

i can answer the second question, yes you bring the original documents to the interview, the first question i.m not sure,

Oh, geez, then I am really confused!

Did you already go through that process? Did you send the originals with DS-230, as well?

The official web site says to "submit the applicant's original civil documents to the NVC".

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3190.html

That would mean the originals should be submitted with the DS-230 when I send them for her, right?

Don't they send all those papers onto the embassy?

Our local embassy website doesn't have many details. It only mentions what (original) documents are needed when DS-230 is submitted directly by the applicant from oversees, not when agent is used, who already sent those documents before the embassy got the case.

What are other people/s experiences who had someone in the US file DS-230 for them? Did your agent send originals with the application, or did you bring the originals to the interview? Is your local embassy under Standard or Appointment Post processing?
