Successful US visit~

Hey fellow canucks, just thought I'd share my border experience with everyone:

I went to Denver this past Wednesday to visit Rob. Took with me:

Copy of NOA1

Latest paystub from work

Copy of my enrollment in a night class

Turns out none of these things were needed but it was a "just in case" kinda thing.

Anyway, got to pre-clearance in Winnipeg:

CPB Officer: Where are you headed?

Me: Denver.

CPB: And why are you heading there?

Me: To visit my fiance. (I guess I mumbled because he asked me again)

CBP: -pause- How long are you there for?

Me: Like, 5 days. I come back on Monday.

CBP: Is he a US Citizen?

Me: Yes.

CBP: What do you do for a living?

Me: I'm in the design industry. I'm an interior designer.

CPB -pause- -stamps passport- Have a good trip.

One the way back, entering Canadian Customs, I got grilled a little which surprised me:

Canadian Customs Officer: Where are you coming from?

Me: Denver.

CCO: Personal, pleasure, business?

Me: Personal.

CCO: Visiting friends?

Me: Visiting my fiance.

CCO: -pause- Did you buy the ticket? Did he buy the ticket?

Me: I bought it. -thinking-(??? Why does this matter?)

CCO: What do you do for a living?

Me: I'm an interior designer. -thinking- (Okay, #######??)

CCO: -scribbles stuff down- Okay hand this to the officer on the way out. Have a nice day.

And that was it. A little odd but nothing "dangerous" per se.

Best part of the trip? Recieving NOA2 the first morning I was there!
