I got an email response today (4 business days after I emailed). Here's the text of the email:

"On behalf of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), thank you for your email dated March , 2013, regarding the status of your Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative. This email has been assigned case # [xxxxxx]. We understand the concern that caused you to write. USCIS records show that your Form I-130 petition was received on January 14, 2013. The National Benefits Center transferred your case to the Santa Ana Field Office (SAA) on February 27, 2013. Once the SAA completes their review, you will receive a Notice of Action by mail, at the address on file. If you have further questions or concerns regarding your case, you may make an InfoPass appointment via our website at www.uscis.gov, to speak to an Immigration Services Officer. We trust that this information is helpful. Sincerely,National Customer Service Center"

Hope this is helpful to someone. I have no idea what to expect from the Santa Ana Field Office. If anyone has information, please let me know!

Glad to hear they responded and thanks for posting what they said! When you emailed them what did you put as the subject? And, if you don't mind me asking, what did you say in the email? Just want to have an idea in case I have to email them.

No problem. In the subject line I put: "Receipt Number: [MSCxxxxxxxxxx]" In the email I said:

"Hello,

My name is [FIRST NAME OF PETITIONER] [LAST NAME OF PETITIONER] and I filed an I-130 on behalf of my husband, [FULL NAME OF BENIFICIARY]. I am the petitioner. I received an NOA1 dated [January 14, 2013] (Receipt Number: [MSCxxxxxxxxxx]). It has been [xx] days since my application was received and I cannot determine my case status online.

I called the National Customer Service Center. The representative I talked to said that because it has been over 45 days since the day my application was received - I can send an email to this address to determine the status of my case and where the case is being processed.

Please advise as to the status of my case and where it is being processed as soon as possible.

Thank you,

[FULL NAME OF PETITIONER]"

-- I highlited both our names, the date of the NOA1 and the receipt number in the email I sent. I tried to show this in the text above. I've bracketed and put in red font the items needed to be changed - obviously there were no brackets or red font in my email to the USCIS! Good luck!

Hello everybody,

I am new here and glad I found the forum because I have some questions :)

We sent our petition to the Chicago lockbox on January 24th and received a receipt number (MSC) on the 28th by email. The email said we´d get any paper with the receipt number after 5 to 10 days but never got it. Also I don´t know where to find out how long it takes till we received the NOA2.

We were told that our case was forwarded to a center in Missouri on the 21st of February.

Our check has not been cashed yet and the expedite processing (deployment) that we asked for has not been approved as well although we were told we´d get an answer within 5 days. it´s been 5 Weeks ever since we requested it and nothing happened?! We only got the answer that they have too much to do.

Should our check be cashed by now? Is it normal that the expedite request takes so long?

So many questions :)

Hi, I am not sure there is a normal when it comes to immigration process. I have heard that cases were being moved around to different centers and that this would delay them. It seems you should have an answer by now for your expedite request. DId you email that or did you send it in with your petition. You might contact USCIS and using your MSC number ask who to re-send your expedite request to - a supervisor possibly since it's been so long. The NOA2 isn't essential as long as you have your MSC number once your case gets to the NVC you can use that to check progress and sign up for email communication instead of snail-mail. Check hasn't been cashed… that's very odd since you have a case number. You might double check on that.

Thanks so much! This very helpful. I got my NOA1 Jan 30, so I'm going to wait until the end of the month to see if something comes up online. If not, I'll try calling first and if I can't get a clear answer I'll send an email.

Thank you for your answer. I opened a new topic here for our case. The check still did not get checked after all these weeks. Do you know, if the 90 days of processing time till NOA2 are realistic?

Anyone else losing their mind with waiting?

Yes it sucks! This waiting just screws with your head. I don't know about you, but it's making me think of all the possible things that can go wrong. I know that's crazy, but it's hard not to worry.

My case still not showing up online..i got my NOA 1 on Jan 18..its been 2 months..

I got my NOA1 on Jan 30. Case doesn't show up online either. I called USCIS yesterday and the automated system didn't recognize my Receipt # and a rep told me that as long as I got the NOA1 my case is active and being worked on even though the Receipt # isn't registered into the system yet. How much of that is true I can't say but I guess it is worth something.

I asked to speak to them directly since I was unable to see the case status online (file over 45 days). I made sure i was extra polite and nice - if they do not let you go through one, thank them and call again and hope you find another representative there willing to help.
