Just found out some great information (I say that facetiously...). My wife is going to need a police certificate from Canada since she lived there for 1 year. Went on the RCMP site and it says the current processing time for a Canadian Police Cert is 18 WEEKS! Guess it wouldn't matter if we got NOA2 early because Canada will just slow us down

Jughead,

I feel your pain. My husband lived in the UK and Thailand for a year so we have double the work. :bonk:

The UK police record seems like a straightforward process. It's the Thai certificate I'm worried about.

I am the petitioner.

did your case status even have time to be up on USCIS?

Yes it did, about 4 days after they received it. I think it shows on their website quickly or not depending on how thorough was the person who opened the package (they might need to do two extra mouse clicks for it to show on the website, and I wouldn't be surprised if some employees didn't care and were doing a sloppy job). But that's just a guess (we have the same problem with the package tracking with the post office in France).

09/2008: Met in France
12/2009: Wedding in France
Since then: Living and working together in France

USCIS:
01/15/2013: Got our official NOA1
02/08/2013: Got an email stating our I-130 was approved followed by the snail mail NOA2

NVC:
03/2013: Received the AOS and IV bill ==> Paid all bills and decided to wait before filing the AOS and civil documents for personnal reasons.

10-11/2013: AOS & Civil documents were sent to NVC

12/19/2013: RFE on AOS

01/12/2014: New AOS was sent

02/10/2014: Received appointment letter

Embassy:

03/12/2014: Interview: approved

03/14/2014: CEAC website went from Ready to AP to Issued!

03/18/2014: Visa in hand!

Don't panic, it's not because you can't check your status online that they don't take care of your petition. It's been only 2 weeks since your NOA1. :star:

Sigh. I'm worried we got put in the slow queue :(

I'm an I-130 January 2013 filer!! I filed mine the 22nd and got my NOA1 the 5th of Feb but the notice date is Jan 29. Ugh this whole process makes me anxious!! But I'm sooo glad that I'm not the only one doing this. :)

Yay! Welcome

Oh my. How timely.

I just read this very interesting q&a with a former adjudicator http://www.visajourney.com/content/adjudicator-q-and-a

And the theory you have of an employee doing a sloppy job might actually be truth... :(

“The fact that we are here and that I speak these words is an attempt to break that silence and bridge some
of those differences between us, for it is not difference which immobilizes us, but silence.
And there are so many silences to be broken.”

Since we're on the topic of police certificates.. I lived in mexico for several years before I came to Spain, but on the travel.state.gov website it says that police certificates from Mexico are unavailable. Does that mean that I dont have to provide anything for Mexico? Or do i still need to get a document that says that police certificates from Mexico are unavailable?

Update: I am in utter disbelief right now.....

As per my daily check on USCIS, my petition was approved 2/13/2013. I really don't understand it. I was expecting a horrible uphill struggle, an RFE at least. My Pitt office just yesterday told me I was sure to get denied because of the missing marriage registration we were unable to obtain. I'm still not totally convinced this is correct.....

I am the petitioner.

Thank you!

I'm convinced it went to the Pitt office as well but if you ask anyone there they will tell you that they don't process I-130 petitions. :bonk:

Wishing a speedy approval for all the rest of my fellow Jan filers!

I am the petitioner.

I also want to point out that I signed up for text/email alerts on the USCIS website and did not receive any notification. I checked my junk mail box too and it didn't get sent there. Hardly a flawless system USCIS has.... I have never recieved text messages. When my I-130 petition was accepted at the Chicago Lockbox I received an email notification.

I am the petitioner.
