Yes, we do live abroad. But we sent the file when we were on vacation in the US for Christmas.

We didn't send too much evidence:

- a statement of the bank saying we have a joint account,

- a statement from our landlord saying we have a lease together (translating the lease would have been way too long),

- a statement from our electricity company saying we have a common contract

- a tax notice from the french government showing we file jointly.

Also what could have played a role is that we are married since more than 3 years now.

I tried to keep everything simple, logical and easy to understand. But I mostly think it's because the USC lives abroad with me.

I hope I have answered your questions!

I concur, that's the easiest case to adjudicate I've ever heard of. Also possible factors: no hits on FBI records for people with the same names, clean immigration and criminal records, your file being in a box on the top of the stack. :)

I'm a dual US/Hungarian citizen (both by birth; Hungarian citizenship verification TBA), and my husband is a dual British/Irish citizen (by treaty) from Northern Ireland. We are atheists.

This has just started to appear in red bold print on the USCIS website when i check our case status:

"Expect a 30-45-day delay between when your application or petition is filed and when your information is available in Case Status Online, depending on the volume of applications USCIS receives."

Yup. I just saw this now. Awesome... Should my husband call in to know our case status updates? Like possible RFEs?

Wow, the second one! Congratulations, saralex!!

We live together abroad, too. I sent in bank statements of our joint account, copies of our passports with stamps of where we currently live abroad, pictures... Hope we will be as lucky as you guys are :)

did your case status even have time to be up on USCIS?

Just found out some great information (I say that facetiously...). My wife is going to need a police certificate from Canada since she lived there for 1 year. Went on the RCMP site and it says the current processing time for a Canadian Police Cert is 18 WEEKS! Guess it wouldn't matter if we got NOA2 early because Canada will just slow us down

You're right, Jiggy.

The next step is just to wait. It will take more than one month and will probably take several months. Use the time to read other posts and figure out what the process is. Don't be scared by other people's problems. In fact, don't be scared at all. If they need more information, they will ask you. If you have a question, come back and see if someone else has answered it, and if not, ask it yourself. Thank you for filling out your profile and timeline. :)

Can you get one from the office local to where she lived? I went in and got mine in person in about 15 minutes. I know Toronto is doing them online now. http://www.torontopolice.on.ca/recordsmanagement/clearance.php

Don't let it go at the results you noted above. You may be able to make it happen faster if you contact an office local to where she lived. There may very well be faster options for you.

ETA: This is of course assuming she has no record at all and doesn't require fingerprints.

For your information, I just checked our case status online and it shows initial review "On February 6, 2013, we received this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE". We didn't even receive our NOA1 by mail yet. So maybe, it's not so bad as they say for the 30-45-day delay

Ooh. Calm down, bro. :luv:

We only got the hard copy of NoA1. I don't know if we're one of them lucky ones who filed from abroad that get on that happily "auto-expedited" queue... Or if our petition ends up in a local office.

And well, we may have an RFE in our future, thanks to an innocent mistake I made in filling in forms :(

Sucks for me. :( mine still says in red that there is a 30-45 delay.

I'm jelly now. We sent ours 15th and got to them on the 25th.

Don't panic, it's not because you can't check your status online that they don't take care of your petition. It's been only 2 weeks since your NOA1. :star:
