Just to add to the confusion... not ALL cases go to local offices. Some stay at NBC. Mine never left.

Are yoy living abroad?

Also note the OP said they had a last touched and USCIS website says they are being processed at a local office. Once again they can contact an ISO to solve such confusion.

It wasn't the OP who said the site said local office, it was hikergirl answering a question :)

And no, not living abroad. Husband is in the US and we are in Canada.

If I knew it, I would share it. Nothing other than good fortune on my part.

My package was very simple, straight-forward. I dotted every 'i' and crossed every 't' and provided a simple package of 3 years' worth of pictures of my husband with my children and family both here and there. I included some boarding passes from when we took the kids to Disney World. I have some tickets from shows we've gone to and a scanned copy of a check from our joint account. I included an email with directions from the first time I visited him at his home. I included a membership for a club we belong to. I also included a copy of an email that we send out for the company he owns which included me in the comments. That was our evidence. Other than that, nothing exciting or creative.

I took a LOT of time reading Saylin's information, especially as it pertains to a Canadian application.

I may not be so fortunate in the next phase but hoping it will continue to be as smooth.

As we were just married in August, a month prior to filing, could be that is taking more time to review. Our history is not as strong as yours, but we do own a home together in the /us - hoping that will be enough.

Thanks for all your help

I got married October 20th and sent our paperwork in 9 days later. Our history is built on the years before getting married, not our actual marriage. I don't think that the length of time matters as much as the quality of the time and what they believe is legitimate. Even cases that are fraudulent can have a lot of TIME put into them. So in my very basic knowledge I would emphasize quality over quantity. Everyone's situation is unique. Each application must be adjudicated on its own merit. I would hope they aren't compared to the one they just looked at or one from a day before or even 6 months before. Again, just my opinion and my hope.

EAC is from Vermont , like yours, our own last touched was August 24th and I called USCIS and i was told that it was sent to NBC, i asked if it was sent to our local office but they said they won't be able to answer that but they know is in NBC . Our local office is in Atlanta and i have not seen people from Atlanta office that has get approved. i don't know why it is very slow in Atlanta, am just getting worried everytime though i know its still early but in a week time it will be 4 months, i don't want it to pass 5 months. Am just praying everyday and i hope and wait for the good news.

i also have EAC receipt number

You have to make an account and there was a picture somewhere that showed where the "touch" was. My last "touch" was Dec 13 when it showed up on the website. Otherwise the USC can call the USCIS, talk to a tier 2 and figure out where the case is.

BTW, are you with national benefits center or still in California? Also your consulate is Montreal not Ottawa.

I have an account on USCIS and check the status daily; still have no idea what people mean by 'touched' - please let me know how one finds this information. There has been no change in our status from 'In process' on the USCIS site, and no evidence, 'picture' (?) or anything to show it was touched. Help!?

Yeah I have an account set up but have never seen the pictures or anything. Im not sure where I am actually. Everytime I call its someplace different. Ive spoken with numerous ISO's that have told me it went from CSC to the NBC to my local office to CSC again and back to NBC and then back to CSC so I do not know what to believe at this point. As far as the consulate I didnt know I just thought it was the closest one to where my husband is. How do you find the consulate information?

You sign in to your account on the uscis website and in your portfolio (which you can make) it has a column that says "last updated" with the date under it for each case. These dates are sometimes more current that the last actual update that you get like "Initial Review" or whatever it may be. Someone just made up the term "touched". You won't actually see that written anywhere.

The theory is that someone has "touched" your file or scanned a barcode or something. Who knows.

All I have learned is that you just need to wait, and try to be patient. Attempting to read into all this stuff doesn't help much. Eventually you will wake up someday and the news will just happen. Its a very zen thing. Haha.

One tip: On the portfolio page sign up for the text message/email alerts, they were very accurate for my cases and it was pretty exciting to get them.

Remember eash application stands on its own merits and each reviewer is different, so different times, hang in there.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

I just wanted to let you know that my last “touch” was 26 Sep when the USCIS site said my files were transferred to a local office. It was not updated when Charleston sent out my NOID which leads me to believe that the Local Offices don’t have the ability to update the website.

Consulate information is the same across Canada. I was looking at consulates even on the NVC website and immigrant visas are only available in Montreal. I wish they did them in Calgary but alas, they don't. K1 have the opportunity to go to Vancouver if it is closer for them, but all immigrant visas need to go through Montreal.http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Canada You will want to read: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_for_Montreal_Beneficiaries_%E2%80%93_Electronic_Processing_and_New_Online_Forms for when your NOA2 comes!!!

As for where your case actually is... I guess it must be pretty frustrating to not really know. I don't know if ours is in Denver or still at the NBC. I know that it's probably gathering dust right now, but at least being a mid-october filer it's probably only a thin layer at this point. Or no dust as it sits below a mound of other paperwork. Someone will get to it at some point in time I'm sure.
