I am on an F1 visa getting married to a US citizen this summer here in the states. I need for my mom and dad, currently in Africa, to be present at my wedding. I am unsure how to go about inviting them, the documents needed to be sent apart from the wedding invitation and other related things to be done to ensure they get a visa on time to make it to my wedding. Any help will be great. thanks in advance.

There is no way for you to ensure they will get a visa. They have to qualify on their own and show strong ties back to their country. You been on F1 Visa and getting married while I believe it is a geniune marriage, it will be a red flag for the embassy, the embassy will look that as the reason to deny their visa. So the only thing your parents can try to do is go ahead and apply, and hope they will get it.

Correct. There is nothing you can do. They must apply for the tourist visa on their own merits. Home ownership, a good job, money in the bank, other children at home, anything that will show that they have all intentions of returning home will be needed for this to happen..

Thanks a lot for the insight. I appreciate it. From what I gather though, just sending them the wedding invitation/save the date IV will do?

I think you missunderstood that. But sending them a wedding invitation will be pointless, as most of the time the embassy will not even look at that. Your parents need to show very strong ties back to their country: good paying steady job, real estate, other children, etc...
