LOL you are braver than I am. Someday I may get the nerve to try driving there. But right now just riding as a passenger is adventure enough for me. I remember riding on a bench in the back of a van that ran up so fast on the bumper of another car and then slammed on his brakes and I came out of my seat and if not for the fast reflexes of my fiance who threw out his arm and caught me I would have landed across the van in the other people's laps LOL. I was amazed at how much the taxi drivers drove right on the bumper of the car in front. But you know what - I am so happy to be going back that I am looking forward to being in those crazy taxis again. When I hear the sounds of continuous honking of car horns I will know I am back home in Morocco!

I don't miss anything about Morocco, I was sick most of the year I lived there and got sick the time we returned on vacation. I am just grateful to God that Farid went through the system without any problems and we are here together in the USA. We are truly blessed.  Our family in Morocco also doing well.

We just returned from Morocco Sat. the 6th, my husbands first time back after being here for 14 months.

Whats there NOT to miss...it is an amazing place to go and visit. It is such an entirely different world from here in the US.

Family of course is the first thing missed...knowing they are not able to hop a plane, like us, and visit anytime...is hard!!

The love and compassion they show is massaive and unconditional...all the time!!

Already looking forward to the next trip!!

I know what you mean about the love from the family. My fiance's family treated me with so much love when I was there. Saying goodbye to them was almost as hard as saying goodbye to my fiance when I left. I loved a lot of things about Morocco. But the love of family - that is what I miss the most. Except of course my fiance - I miss him like crazy and am counting the days until I am back there to get married!

Thank you all for the nice words about morocco and moroccans from a fellow moroccan who lives in the us!

I miss my country, and everything about it, and reading what you all wrote took me there:) bread and mint tea, the driving, the smell of the ocean..the cafes..and people..

Hope you all have a great evening,

:)

Same here, abbi627. Despite being a Godless Westerner, and the fact that we couldn't verbally communicate, they welcomed me with such open arms. I really look forward to them being my in-laws someday.

I was so terrified of meeting the family when I went over there. I stayed with the whole family and i was so afraid they would not accept me. I am a Muslim and I thought that might help but I am also from the United States so I was not sure how they would feel about me. They were warm and friendly from the day I arrived and by the time I had been there a few days I was just part of the family. They started teaching my their language and would ask me how to say something in English. So when I left I really felt like I had not only left the love of my life behind - I had also left my parents and brothers and sisters.

What a great thread much like everyone I miss Morocco even at the most challenging time I enjoyed and took in the experience. I have been there 5 times and hope to make a trip soon. I miss the bread, mint tea and my mother-in-law's pastries. The one thing I miss the most is my dear family there they are so sweet and give so much of themselves lol my hubby's aunties were a riot we had so much fun.

I just want to walk down the street with my hubby to his old neighborhood "jobless." Then make our way to the jarda and watch the kids play such a simple existence.
