I think there is an issue with this format. First you get inline for the interview and then you get the Interview letter. Am I correct ?

Hello fellow N-400 January 2013 Filers! I'm sure I'm not alone out there.

My N-400 package was submitted on 01/02/2012 to Dallas, TX. Local office: New York, NY.

If someone is familiar with adding and editing timelines, please feel free! :help:

Hi guys, I hope i can fill my N-400 in this month.

I am doing research on it and i have lots of questions. I hope the other experienced friends will help us in this stressful process.

I live in a small town at TX. It is between Dallas and Houston. I think i should post my file to USCIS Dallas office.

My first question is; Is there any difference to send our forms to USCIS Dallas P.O or USCIS Lewisville, TX ? (lewisville is for express mail i think)

so can we post it to Lewisville with fedex express service?

And instruction papers says we can fill N400 at USCIS Lockbox facilities. Is there any advantage to fill it at there ?

Lewisville is about 4 hours drive away from my house.

It's not necessarily the closest location to where one has to file his/her documents. Take a look at the instructions to Form N-400:

http://www.uscis.gov.../n-400instr.pdf

On page 5/6 it is explained that if you live in TEXAS you need to send your documents to USCIS, P.O. 660060, Dallas, TX 75266. The street address is for express mail and commerical courier deliveries only since they require a signature upon receipt.

You will receive the NOA with the receipt # and date on it. This will make sure that they received your documents.

or can i ask under this topic?

If i understand true, I will send my N400 and documents to Dallas with usps signature mail. and they will send back to me a notification mail which you call NOA ?

NOA stands for Notice of Action. USCIS sends this letter to let you know that they are processing your application. It inclues dates, case number, name of the applicant etc. The NOA is useful in case you need to inquire about your case in your local office, travel out of the country, etc.

01/17/13 Sent application for US Citizenship!!!

01/19/13 Arrived to Arizona Lockbox

01/24/13 Notice of Action

Explorer2001, I think this forum is the right place to ask questions about the application process since most of the people here have already filed form N-400 and are now waiting for receipts and notices to arrive.

You will see that form N-400 is pretty straight forward, it's mostly about contact info and immigration history. The only paragraph some people seem to struggle with is the "Days outside the country" question; with that question USCIS wants to determine if you are eligible for naturalization. After you have sent the documents and they were accepted, USCIS takes over for you. They will send you notices what to do and where to be next. This is something you need to keep track of. If you miss appointments for fingerprints or interviews, you will just unnecessarily prolong your application process. And processing times are somewhere between 5 and 7 months already, who wants to get an involuntary extension for that?! :no:
