A few more tips for the Oath ceremony the earlier you get there the better seats you end up having, as well as I would do the passport application first since the line will be HUGE! The voter registration only took me 2 mins (no line for some reason) Congratulations again! kicking.gifbiggrin.gif

I think there is an issue with this format. First you get inline for the interview and then you get the Interview letter. Am I correct ?

Haha...I literally just received a text message and email saying my case status has been changed to "Oath ceremony". It said that I have been scheduled and they already sent out a letter so hopefully i'll get it soon

Just wondering, Have you received your Oath letter yet? Hope all is well with you blush.gif

Hey folks, so I had my interview at 8am this morning and I was approved. I am so happy, relieved and grateful to God.

Okay, here are the details: I arrived at 7:45 for my interview at 8. The officer came to get me around 8:15...and then she swore me in ( raised my right hand and made me promise to tell the truth). Even though I was applying based on 5 years of permanent residence. She asked me how long I've been married and how we met and if we had any kids. Just some general questions about him. She confirmed my address, and asked me the yes or no questions from the N400 application. She asked me if ive ever been detained or arrested and I answered no. She asked if I've had any traffic tickets and I told her I have about 3 for which I took defensive driving to get them dismissed. I told her I had the records but she didn't want to see them, she just changed my answers to yes and wrote "paid" and signed right by the yes box.

Then she gave me a paper and told me to confirm the details and sign because that's how it will appear on my certificate ( at this opoint I was thinking to myself, hmmmm, no questions yet...hmmmm). Then she handed me another paper and asked me to write "Washington is our first president" and asked me to read "who is George Washington". After that she asked me 6 questions: who is the supreme court justice; how many members are in the HOR; how often do we elect the representatives; when do we vote for presidential elections; one war fought by US in 1900s.

Then my interviewer congratulated me, gave me a paper that shows I passed with the congratulations Box checked. She also said the next oath ceremony is in May, and there is a high probability that I will be in that oath but she can't guarantee anything. She also gave me a paper on how to apply for my passport on the date of my oath ceremony. I saw her stamp a big approve on my file, signed and closed it.

So yeah, all in all it was a good experience. May God bless my interviewer because she was very professional and made my normally nervous self real calm. And thanks to everyone on here too, and good luck to everyone.

Yes, I got the letter on Saturday. My oath day is the same with menina which is April 18th!

Do you know how long is the Oath ceremony? I have classes I still have to go back to after the ceremony. Trying to see if i can make it to my classes on time or not.

Wife had her interview today and happy to report she was recommended for approval. I sat in the waiting room and couldn't believe how quick it was...literally 15 minutes. This is her description of the events.

VERY nice female officer led her back for the interview. She ask her for her Mexican passport, green card, and drivers license. The officer went over the application with her page by page. On the front page, the officer actually changed the check box from "based on 3 years of marriage" to "based on 5 years in the country". When she applied back in January 2013, it was about a month shy of her 5th anniversary as a green card holder. Maybe the actual "3-year" counter starts on the marriage date, NOT when you become a permanent resident? Alternatively, could it be because on the date of the interview she now has been a legal PR for more than 5 years? I'm not sure if that made things easier or not, but the officer DID NOT ask for ANY additional documentation even though we had it (i.e. marriage certs, bank statements, tax returns, utility bills). My wife commented that our file the officer had was about 2-inches thick....guess I had supplied them with enough. ;)

Wife got the initial 6 civics questions the officer asked correct and the officer asked no more. She could only remember these 4:

How many members in the House of Representatives?

Name of the Supreme Court Chief Justice?

Name of the Father of the country?

How often are elections held for Representatives?

She was asked to write: "George Washington was the first president"

She was asked to say " George Washington was the father of the nation"

Officer said congratulations and handed her the N-652 (Naturalization Interview Results) that had the "You passed tests of English and U.S. history and governments" and "Congratulations! You application has been recommended for approval" boxes checked.

Any way....that's the story. Officer believed the Oath Ceremony will take place some time in June...guess we will wait and see.

Can't thank every enough for their valuable experience and insight during this journey. It isn't over until the Oath Ceremony but seems like the finish line is within reach. Best of luck to those remaining. :)

Just want to let all know, my wife pass her citizen test :thumbs: Examiner said "wait for 2/3 wks for letter for oat.' They asked more than 10 questions, maybe like 15. Asked her to write, The people elect the government. Also, they asked about me too. Overall, 10min.

Updating myself...I went for the interview (7:30 am interview time) and after the swearing in, showed my tax returns for the last 4 years (I had sent just the latest tax return earlier)....2012 was a print out, 2009-2011 were tax transcripts...she asked a couple of questions from N400, and then the 6 civics questions. I can only remember two she asked (ocean on the east coast, when was the constitution established).

The officer mentioned that she was recommending the application for approval - and that there was an oath ceremony the same day at 1 pm!! I said yes, and got my naturalization certificate! There was no place to apply for a passport (Seattle), but I did fill out and submit the voter registration form....the fingerprints took a while in my case, but the last step was surprisingly quick!

Good luck to all still on the list...just be cool and everything will be fine.

Yes, I got the letter on Saturday. My oath day is the same with menina which is April 18th!

Do you know how long is the Oath ceremony? I have classes I still have to go back to after the ceremony. Trying to see if i can make it to my classes on time or not.

My Oath ceremony was about a 2 hours but if you are applying for a passport (if they have it at your ceremony) and voter registration you may be there for awhile since the line ups can be huge. blush.gif
