you can get a lot of help since your military, call this number,1-877-247-4645 or militaryinfo.nsc@dhs.gov---good luck.

I called that military number before i was submitting my initial packet and Im not sure the line is any different, other than maybe a shorter wait time. I got a guy that was obviously just reading off of a prompt and couldnt really answer any of the questions I had.

Another question I had...on some of the timelines in peoples signatures, they send in the AOS packet and the immigrant visa packet at seperate times, but the EZGuideSpouse site says to send them both at the same time...does it matter either way? is one better than the other?

Usually it doesn't matter either way, but I have heard of some people not getting their IV bill invoiced until they submitted their AOS packet.

I'm at this very point right now and my AOS has been paid for 2 days and nothing has happened with my IV bill, so I'm sending in my AOS packet today, hopefully to get the IV bill processed.

When sending anything in to immigration you should get a tracking number and also delivery confirmation. I like to overnight it, as well.

another quick question. she is in the UK looking at getting a certified copy of her birth certificate for the next phase of paperwork... does she need to get the copy " registered for overseas use", which is 75 pounds, or just a regular certified copy, which is only 15?

Not sure if this answers your question.

If not, try asking in the UK specific forum. You'll probably get quicker and more accurate answers there. :)

Ok, another quick question. On our I-130 form, we filled out the forms with her maiden name, as she didnt want to get all of her identification changed immediately with the new name(particularly with the passport and how much time it might take to get a new one), so we were going to wait. Well someone pointed out to us that if you get your green card issued in your maiden name, it can be a bit of a pain to get it changed to your married name. So the question is, since we started the 130 with the maiden name, can we fill in the next stage of paperwork with the new married name? Or will this cause some sort of issue with the difference? Will the consulate care that her IDs are in her maiden name, or will she have to get them all changed before her interview?

Thanks again.

Use one name on all of her information. Don't use her maiden name on ID (like passport or drivers license) and then say her married name on her paperwork. Either jump ship and do everything, or don't bother until after she's immigrated. Just an FYI, changing the name on a passport often means getting a new one and resubmitting all the information vs just renewing. Getting a foreign passport out of country can be a big pain. I'm not sure how it's done in the UK honestly but her green card and her passport should have the same first middle last names. That is what she uses when she travels.

If you guys choose to change her name now, do it on all the information and with the next stage include on the cover letter, or submit an extra letter and explanation of what you did. They should be able to correlate the two because her maiden name should be on her marriage certificate and birth certificate.

fixed some spelling... argh!
