I have a valid VA state license, however, California law only allows me to drive here with an out-of-state license for like 15 days. I am adjusting from F1, so my legal paperwork still says VA, and the DMV here in CA needs something like the EAD or Greencard to issue me a new DL...

January 12: DHS/USCIS Biometrics Appointment: February 05, Honolulu.

Nice that is really quick!... my appointment letter should get here next week. We had to call USCIS on Fri due to the discovery of a typo on the I130 and after they fixed that I asked how long it can take until we will receive the biometrics letter and the guy said it was already sent :yes:

You're so lucky! We haven't received our appointment letter yet :( My husband is anxiously awaiting the EAD so he can get a license & work too. (Here on a tourist visa, expired now, so can't get a license or ID in our state).

Jan 4: receipt notices

Jan 7: Checks cashed

Feb 4: 1st biometrics appointment- attempted 2 unsuccessful early walk-ins. 2nd time told that hubby needed an unexpired passport. Rescheduled biometrics

Mar 14: biometrics completed. EAD card production ordered same day

Mar 19: ready for interview scheduling

When did you file? We filed less than 2 weeks ago and received the appointment note today. I am so happy that we were able to take the fingerprints today... just waiting for a case update now (hopefully)

So you just walk in to the center and see if they'll take you? We just got the biometrics letter today and we're scheduled for the 31st. Would be great to get it out of the way.

01-08-2013 - Received Acceptance texts and emails from USCIS at 10:46 pm

Yea just go there, best to try it just before they close. There was nobody there when we got there and it was no problem!

We received NOAs and the biometrics letter today. I have a question though for all of you fellow January filers. In the biometrics appointment letter the social security box has no number and I already have a SS card (I'm H1B visa holder). Does anyone have the same issue?

I think it's bc you never really send those in the mail (the ssn). My box is empty also, I think it's for that reason. Your number is never shown anywhere but on the card itself

@ Mrs gonzo: our paperwork was sent on Dec 27 & the 1st letters were dated Jan 4. I guess maybe it's different processing centers? I don't know much about how all this works :/ But glad to see other people are getting appointments!

As of right now we all have the samne processing center ... but I think it all just depends on the location. My friend had to apply for another greencard (the third time bc USCIS keeps messing up), and she sent hers in like 5 weeks before we filed. She still did not get her biometrics appointment. I think it is bc her application center serves a bigger area (i think she has to drive 2h just to get there), as apposed to bigger cities like NYC or San Diego where you have more centers.

Well, no luck on our attempted walk-in. We got to the biometrics place at around 12:00pm and the receptionist told us they were fully reserved and that if we wanted a different time than what was on our letter we should reschedule it for later. Not the nicest person but oh well. Guess we have to wait two weeks and do it by the book.

F-1 ---> AOS
