:( Looks like if anything, VAWA needs to be strengthened!

Of course, until you get snared by the DV machine and experience how biased and onerous that law can be.

The numbers are so distorted because men are reluctant to report DV because of the stigma and ridicule often leveled at men that do report and most men know that if the police arrive on the scene, it is they that will likely be escorted away wearing those shiny braclets. I know up until 2010, DOJ would not allow any grants from the Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) to fund studies with regards to male victims of DV.

Those politically correct folks in D.C., are reluctant to even acknowledge that DV is a two way street. Below is an example of one of the grants administered by OVW. With such biased grants used to educate those in law enforcement, it's easy to see why cops, judges and prosecutors have the "get that guy" attitude.

STOP (Services, Training, Officers, and Prosecutors) Violence Against Women Formula Grants to States

The STOP Program promotes a coordinated, multidisciplinary approach to enhancing advocacy and improving the criminal justice system's response to violent crimes against women. It encourages the development and improvement of effective law enforcement and prosecution strategies to address violent crimes against women and the development and improvement of advocacy and services in cases involving violent crimes against women.

My ex gave me 8 stitches upside my ear. I'm not one to call 911 but she stole the place blind while I was in the emergency room getting stitched up. When I got home I was p*ssed and called the cops. A single cop stopped by a few hours later, saw all "my blood" on the pillow case and sink yet never wrote anything down. When I called the cops a few days later to see if they had picked her up yet they said the case was in the "round file" aka garbage can.

Now move the clock up 6 years and my live in gf was ripped on booze and who knows what and went nuts when I came home from work. When she wouldn't leave I called the cops...but only after she ripped the phone line out of the downstairs phone the first time I tried to call the cops, and I had to use the upstairs phone in the bedroom. She had a death grip on my ankle when I was walking up the stairs and got a rug burn from the shag carpet. When the cops got there I ended up getting arrested. Mind you I had just pulled a 12 hour shift, there were witnesses (neighbors) of her going ballistic, and a trash can full of empties. She admitted to going nuts yet I still went to jail. Ya tell me this system isn't messed up.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

I've read a few hundred police reports and have seen evidence contrary to said reports from my days when I volunteered my free weekends at a men's advocacy group that dealt with the injustice of family law and courts.

Let's try this question again Horst and see what your answer is. "Do you think it's ok for someone in this country to get hosed by the justice system?"

You gotta ask me one more question - you ought to ask me also whether I think that you were hosed by the justice system.

The answer to both questions would be NO.

So it's ok for a woman to assault a man with no implications from the law?

Of course not. Maybe I am on odd person but having been around for close to half a century, I have not ever assaulted anyone (least of all a female) nor have I ever been assaulted by anyone (least of all a female). Growing up, I have been taught that a male never, ever raises his hand against a female. Period.

I've been in a number of relationships over the years. In all of those, my female partners could not have ever physically attacked me. On average, they were 5'4" and no more than 125lbs vs. my 6'1" and 190lbs. The idea that any of the gals or women I ever dated, lived with was or am married to would have assaulted me makes me chuckle. Seriously. The idea that I would ever even consider laying hand on a woman makes me cringe. That just doesn't and simply cannot happen. Simple as that.

I guess what I am trying to say is I truly don't understand what you're trying to get at.

Of course not.

It was a simple question with a yes or no answer.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I have also never physically assaulted anyone! And my height and weight are identical to yours. I did have an ex (prior to my 'ex-from-hell') that had an explosive temper. She was all of 5'3" and didn't weigh more than 105#. That did not stop her from kicking, hitting, biting, and scratching whenever she felt like it. I think the fact she knew I would never respond in kind made it easier for her to give in to her impulses since there was no risk involved for her. Once she actually came at me with a large butcher knife. I reacted instinctively and grabbed a 4-legged kichen chair and used it to pin her against the wall without hurting her while I then easily disarmed her. I should have let her cut me and then the police would have to have arrested her and I might have had a shot at primary physical custody in the divorce I knew we were headed to. Just before we did finally divorce she had again come at me with fists flying and I had carefully gotten hold of her wrists and held them while she struggled to strike me. She kicked me in the shins but she was not able to hit me in the face. She struggled hard enough that when she finally got over the height of her rage she had some slight bruising on the wrists. She decided to call the cops while I stood there. I laughed and asked her to tell them how, exactly, she can explain the unique location of her injuries. I don't know what questions they asked her but fortunately for me they apparently determined that there was no abuse situation they needed to make a report on and no officer ever showed up. That could have gone the other way as Kip can attest. I give credit to the Fairbanks, Alaska police for at least a little common sense and discretion.

You are either lucky or just a lot better at picking women than some of us. I admit my past decisions before my current spouse really sucked! But just because you have not experienced it does not mean it is not very real for some of us, from both sides of the political spectrum.
