Has anyone travelled out of the U.S with extension letter?

I think im just being paranoid

curious to see if anyone has traveled out of the country with their extension letter?????????

My green card is in my maiden name as well as my German password but GC will expire in FEB the extension letter is in my new married name

im aware to bring my marriage certificate in case there would be an issue

I will be going on vacation out of the country in April

11/09/2010- Sent out I485, I-130, I-765 Applications Chicago Office11/14/2010- USCIS recieved my applications11/18/2010- Received Receipts11/29/2010- Received my biometrics appointment scheduled for 12/17/201012/17/2010- Biometrics Done01/07/2011- Interview Scheduled for Feb 7th.01/21/2011- Received Email saying EAD card production01/26/2011- Received Email again saying EAD card production01/31/2011- Received EAD Card in the Mail02/07/2011- AOS Interview - Green Card Approved!!!!02/08/2011- Received Email Card/Document Production11/30/2012- Mailed out I-75112/07/2012- Received NOA12/11/2012- Received Biometric Appointment letter

12/28/2012- Biometric Appointment

05/28/2013 - Approval Letter Recieved

06/19/13- 10 Year Green Card Recieved !!!! :)

I just returned from Canada on mine, there were no issues. I just handed the border guard my (expired) green card and my extension letter, along with my passport.

Hi Lisa,

My Greencard is in my maiden Name and my extension letter is in my married Name, Im flying back to the US from Germany on Friday with Extension Letter and Greencard... I can let you know how that goes :) I dont expect to have a lot of trouble, I do have my marriage certificate with me just in case! If they get confused about the different Names I will point out that the Alien Number matches... Have you put your maiden name on the Form under "other Names used" I believe that is what they will see in their system...

You will not have any problems. In addition, you could even fly without showing your Green Card or extension letter. There's a lot of things to be said about Krauts, many of the are not flattering, but stupid they are not, especially not the chicks at the check-in counter.

We went to the UK with Nik's passport, extension letter and expired conditional green card.

There were some raised eyebrows, and almost everyone who checked the GC took at least 5 minutes to read the extension letter carefully (we carried the original of all documents), but otherwise no hassles.

The immigration guys didn't bat an eye - it was mostly the ticket check-in people who obviously don't work with those forms as often.

K-1:

January 28, 2009: NOA1

June 4, 2009: Interview - APPROVED!!!

October 11, 2009: Wedding

AOS:

December 23, 2009: NOA1!

January 22, 2010: Bogus RFE corrected through congressional inquiry "EAD waiting on biometrics only" Read about it here.

March 15, 2010: AOS interview - RFE for I-693 vaccination supplement - CS signed part 6!

March 27, 2010: Green Card recieved

ROC:

March 1, 2012: Mailed ROC package

March 7, 2012: Tracking says "notice left"...after a phone call to post office.

everything went just fine, the Lufthansa Lady seemed to have never seen an extension letter but knew about it... she read it carefully and asked me where she could find the Alien Number and where it states the extension of the Green Card! Once Back in the US (Washington Dulles) the IO took a short look on the paperwork then send us to secondary Inspection. THe IO at secondary inspection told me that they just had to confirm my Status so everybody traveling with the Letter would have to come to secondary... If you have enough time for layover, should not be a problem at all, We had 2 hours 17 minutes and barely made our connection.... But other than that no hassle at all! Safe travels :)
