Bush Names Exxon Chief to Chart America's Energy Future

Thursday 02 November 2006

Even for an administration dedicated to putting industry lobbyists in charge of the very agencies they have devoted their careers to undermining (coal and oil lobbyist J. Stephen Griles as Deputy Secretary of the Interior is one of dozens of examples), President Bush has recently outdone himself. He has named Lee Raymond, the retired chief of ExxonMobil, to head a key study to help America chart a cleaner course for our energy needs. Raymond currently chairs the National Petroleum Council (NPC), one of the most powerful lobbies in Washington.

What I expect next:

####### Cheney: Chairing Committee on Gun Safety and Eliminating the Use of Waterboarding

Ted Haggard: Chairing Presidential committees on Gay Rights, and Curbing the Spread of Methamphetamine Use

Alberto Gonzales: Chairing Presidential Committee on Privacy Rights; co-chair, with Cheney, of Eliminating the Use of Waterboarding

Rush Limbaugh: Appointed as national spokes person for Curbing the Spread of Opiate Abuse. Also chairing Presidential Blue ribbon panel on Treatment Alternatives for Parkinson’s Disease.

Tom Foley: Chairperson of Presidential Committee for Stricter Treatment of Pedopliles

John Kerry: In the spirit of bipartisan cooperation, co-chair, with Howard Dean, of the Committee for Self-restraint in Public Speaking; joining them will be ####### “the insurgents are in their final throes” Cheney and Scooter “I didn’t out Valerie Plame” Libby

Look for more appointments of Republicans losing their jobs tomorrow (Nov 7; VOTE!)

Jim Talent: Committee for the Employment of Former Rubber Stampers; aka the “Stay the Course Committee”

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

America has no energy future. We will just keep on burning millions of barrels of oil a day until it runs out. Then we'll all freeze in the dark and ride horses to work in the morning. We might have to leave for work earlier though...those 100 mile round trip commutes from the sprawling suburbs take much longer by horse.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

US Congresswoman Barbara Jordan (D-TX)

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995

maybe i should go purchase my horse now, and raise it to be fast and to run over all the slow horse riders.

Relax. There's enough oil for us. It's something our children are going to worry about.
