Hello all, I am new to the forums but I have been browsing the site to get some research work done for filling for my fiancé visa.

A little introduction:

Me: Male, 24, I live in Houston

My Fiance: Female, 24, She lives in the Philippines

We got engaged back in November and filed for K-1 visa first week of December. I read around the forums and a lot of people have said it was possible to file for the visa by ourselves without the help of a lawyer but we decided to hire a lawyer just to be on the safe side.

Looking forward to visit this site more to help answer future questions.

Happy New year to everyone!

****

anybody whos fiance from the Philippines got a few sample questions they can share with me & my fiancé?

Thank you in advance for the help.

what does your lawyer tell you about filing an I-129F ?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Thank you all for your kind words & warm welcome! I appreciate all of it! Happy New years to everybody also!

***Update***

got the I-797C Notice of Action today in the mail.

Hoping the next process goes without any bumps on the road. I pray overnight everything goes smoothly!

So is the next step my background check?

what does your lawyer tell you about filing an I-129F ?

Hi sorry it took some time for me to reply, I have been busy with work. Nothing special, he just told me a lot of couples tend to do it by themselves and some do it right but some end up answering questions wrong or in a wrong format and ends up having to redo the whole application thus making the application process longer. The good thing about the lawyer I talked to is they specialize in this kind of visa application and also his wife came to America via his petition for her, so he has been in our shoes so I think it also helps.

I think in the end its still up to the person if they decide they should hire the assistance of a lawyer or not, if the person feels confident they can answer the questions as needed they should move forward without one. I just went the safer route and got professional help because it never hurts (imo)

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."
