We've been discussing the AR 15 and the differences between cosmetics, magazines etc and I think its better to see visuals rather than just discuss in text. This video compares an assault rifle with a modern sporting rifle that looks military style. The narrator describes the differences.

We have tried to explain this. They really don't care. It's an emotional issue to liberals.

P.S. He should have cleared that weapon, inspected the chamber visually and removed the magazine before placing on the table. He is not a very safe shooter.

Decent hunters should not need semi-auto fire. Self-defense should also not need that. If you feel that insecure you are living in the wrong neighborhood and/or are just pissing too many people off! It has been pointed out by others on here that a semi-auto hunting rifle is pretty much the same as an assault rifle. Point taken. Ban semi-auto! Ban the ability for a weapon to physically be able to accept a high capacity magazine. Make homicidal maniacs at least have to work a bolt, lever, or pump action for every round they want to put into our children's heads and hearts! Is that too much to ask of you gun worshipers out there? How many more of America's youth do you want offered up as living sacrifice on your altar of unlimited gun rights?

Actually DF's new bill will likely be much more expansive than the 1994 ban. And I agree it does help in clarifying positions. In all likelyhood (we'll know for sure on Jan 3rd) support for DF's bill will mean a ban on the majority of firearms produced today. In that way its no longer really possible to talk about middle ground gun control - at the moment its going to be current laws versus majority ban which polls show the American people do not support.

I do have an automatic at the moment. I don't really have a preference as I've driven both.
