I hope that I receive my biometrics letter soon, so I can do an early walk-in. My husband (petitioner) and I (beneficiary) already have tickets booked overseas, so he can resume his studies abroad, and I really want to accompany him on his journey. I'll be back well within the 12 month requirement for GC holders, but I really don't want my husband to go through the stress of going through the education red-tape, as well as getting shelter, transportation, and such, in order all by himself. :unsure:

1. Issue date of NOA1 provides a much better insight into when the case is looked at first and it helps for statistical purposes as well (will be described later).

2. No, it shouldn't. Processing time, that is calculated on this site, for example, counts the time to NOA1 using the issue date.

Just because one local post office doesn't have their act together and someone receives NOA1 a week and a half after it was issued doesn't really help the statistics, because it was issued when it was issued.

Also, not for nothing, but it's the issue date of NOA1 that is important if you ever want to refer to that paper, not your receipt date.

In any case, I think it's hard to stipulate on this matter since at the end of the immigration journey it all wouldn't have mattered.

My opinion still stands on the matter. Statistically what matters most to me is when I personally receive the letter, not when someone 'sees' it. Nor can I really understand why it's such a big deal. As someone said before about the 'statistical' side of things it doesn't really matter (in another post). And as you said what is important is getting the green card and in the grand scheme of things the little things like date specifics wouldn't have mattered.

Any kind of time line I've done I've always put the dates that I receive letters not the date stamped. So I like to stay consistent. If that isn't ok then please take me off the list and I'll just keep updating my timeline.

Yes, that title heading makes misleading, but there is description under. It states "NOA Date = The Receipt Date on your original NOA letter" crearly too. And FYI, we have kept these list in this way for long time (for 4 years at least) and I've never seen this argument before...

Regarding the NOA1 date - isn't the most important thing for any statistical analysis - to simply be consistent? If we all were reporting it as the received date that would work too, but then everyone needs to re-submit the information in order to be consistent. Since it was is listed in the information as the date on the letter, then that's what I reported and it's nice to compare consistent information.

Just my 2 cents. I don't think one date is better than the other, just like knowing that we're all talking about the same thing, so I don't have to wonder why everyone else got it considerably slower or faster than I did....

K-1 Visa / I-129F

January 11, 2010 - I mailed K-1 Visa I-129F Petition Overnight Express Mail

February 25, 2010 - Notice date of NOA2 (read the e-mail notice on his birthday 2/26/2010)

May 12, 2010 - Interview - Approved!!!

May 25, 2010 - received Visa back in time to make May 26th Flight :)

June 9, 2010 - Married!!!

AOS:

November 1, 2010 - Sent AOS, EAD & AP to Chicago via Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation

November 03, 2010 - Delivered 9:57 am, CHICAGO, IL 60603

November 10, 2010 - Received 3 e-mail & text message NOA1s from USCIS

November 12, 2010 - Received 3 NOA1s hardcopy in mail

November 19, 2010 - Received Biometrics appointment letter in mail

December 3, 2010 - AOS - I-485 transferred to CSC

2020 - Started Naturalization ppwk prior to COVID pandemic, and when we couldn't get passport photos at local AAA office - set it aside

March 2021 - Finishing Naturalization ppwk and filing ASAP

October 4, 2022 - ASAP turned into putzing and putting off...and finally filing on 10/4/22.

11/25/22 - Received notice of N-400 Interview on 1/5/23

1/5/23 - Naturalization Interview

They still haven't cashed my check. :( I sent my packet on 14-JAN and they received it on 16-JAN. Today is 22-JAN. Still no cashing of check or NOA.

What should I do? You guys keep telling me to just sit tight. But how long? Did anyone get their checked cashed who sent/uscis received their packet on the 14th, 15th, or 16th?

Yesterday was a federal holiday. Be patient, you'll get your check cashed and your NOA1 soon.

They still haven't cashed my check. :( I sent my packet on 14-JAN and they received it on 16-JAN. Today is 22-JAN. Still no cashing of check or NOA.

What should I do? You guys keep telling me to just sit tight. But how long? Did anyone get their checked cashed who sent/uscis received their packet on the 14th, 15th, or 16th?

It will probably be cashed in 2 days time, as yesterday was a federal holiday. Mine was cashed in 5 business days.

My wife is coming back tomorrow. Hopefully, there won't be any trouble while she's entering back in USA. I mean her green card doesn't expire for another full month. I just want the bloody NOA1 on hand. After that see if I care if this takes a year or two or three.

23-DEC-2016 -:- N400 form mailed to Dallas, TX Lockbox (USPS EXPRESS)

27-DEC-2016 -:- N400 form delivered/picked up by USCIS

01-JAN-2017 -:- N400 form fee check cashed by USCIS

04-JAN-2017 -:- N400 form received per NOA1

09-JAN-2017 -:- N400 form NOA1 notice date

14-JAN-2017 -:- N400 form NOA1 on hand through USPS

30-JAN-2017 -:- N400 fingerprint taken

01-FEB-2017 -:- N400 interview schedule process started

Oh I completely understand the frustration. My sister went back last year during her ROC process was taking place and was able to get in without any issues, her green card was expiring in 3 weeks time.
