Hi Everyone,

Firstly, it is great to have found this website where others understand the concerns that can arise during the visa process.

I have been issued my DS190 form with an impending move to New York City for one year under the J1 visa program. However, I just found out today that I may have a civil case pending against me from a car accident I was involved in while visiting in Washington State in 2010. The claimant believes that they are entitled to medical expenses, but my insurance company isn't willing to pay the amount requested by the 'injured party' - which will force this matter into court proceedings as a civil dispute.

If they file this as a civil dispute in the Washington State court, will this adversly affect my ability to enter the US for one year under this visa?

Your help is really appreciated!

Pretty normal in the accident bodily injury process. If you think their is fraud notify your carrier and or the Washington State Insurance Fraud Bureau. Filing suit is a normal course of business. This will not affect your USCIS stuff, and your insurance company should defend you in court.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.
