New information can mean your name had a hit on someone who was recently added to the watch list. It has nothing to do with you. It took my spouse three trips to the embassy in Turkey before he received his visa. The first was for his initial interview, which resulted in AP, the second time they "suddenly" realized he had traveled Europe in 2001 (although it was clearly listed on his paperwork) and placed him back in AP so they could check that, the third time he finally received the visa.

I understand your frustration but it is what it is. Everyone in the US overreacts now because of the constant "terrorist threat". All a real terrorist has to do is walk across the border, why bother trying to come here legally? Your chances of being killed in a car accident far exceed your chances of being killed by a "terrorist".

Is there anyway I can get in contact with that egyptian doing the digging or the egyptian authority responsible for the digging? Do you know anyone within the embassy that might be able to prioritize my case or give that egyptian motivation to dig through my case?

The answer to all of your questions is, unfortunately, no.

First world nations invested in technology, which is why their citizens tend to move through mandatory Administrative Processing (AP) rather quickly. Egypt didn't do that.

All you can do is wait.

In an extreme case, yes. It could also mean someone with a name similar to the OP's was a witness to a car accident. Whatever the reason, that name has to be investigated and it takes time to go through stacks of paper files gathering dust in a storage room.
