I did my interview last july at the consulate.I was interviewed by a female consular and she didnt ask me alot of questions. She only asked me why are you studying politcial science, so I told her because I want to work as a foreign service officer for my country and I believe learning about politics around the world especially american politics would do me good. She said okay and then told me im going into administrative processing. after 4 months, they finally changed my status to "please send in your passport". I sent my passport in, a week later my status was turned into "Administrative processing". I called the consulate and was told that it has entered new AP, because new info came in. I asked what new information came in, as the passport that i submitted was the same as the one I applied with. She wouldnt answer and kept saying administrative processing.

I already had to defer my Fall 2012 semester because I Didnt get my visa in time, and now from the looks of it, dont think i'll be able to go to spring 2013 which starts on 28 of january. Today is 1st of January. Happy new years everyone!!! :) :) :D. I havent booked a flight ticket, dorms, paid tuition and fees, nor have I arranged a withdrawal with my home university. I need to be there on the 20th of Jan otherwise I miss this semester as well and will lose total admission to the university. Because i've already deferred before.

I heard that consulars through 221G can use their powers to re-adjudicate visas, which is what I think has been done to me. Can you guys help me as to how to get this visa going. Is there someone that I contact that might be of more help to me and provide reason and maybe move my case to priority cases? I'd really appreciate any help, im lost at this point in time :/ and dont know what to do ;(

I need help in getting my visa within 20 days, anything that can be done. something I might be missing. re-applying for a new f-1 maybe?

Nothing can be done. Applying for a new visa will only lead to AP all over again as the issues will still be there. Unfortunately the only thing you can do is wait. You can contact your US senator or congressperson and they can inquire on your behalf. I know from experience the only thing the embassy/consulate will tell them is the same thing they tell you "pending administrative processing". But at least the embassy will know from a congressional inquiry that the case is being watched by someone other than you. My senator's office inquired every 2 weeks for me. Good luck and I hope you hear good news soon. Happy New Year.

you are not entitled to anything from the United States of America.....you, some cj from a country whose men treat women worse than domesticated animals....have the audacity to instruct America on how to do business? Really? Gee, why aren't YOU running Egypt....or the African continent...or the world? As you pointed out, all you care about is you...whereas America cares about numorous things...including giving money to your country because it could not survive ten minutes without it...

why not tell us all why your culture treats women with such disdain??? Under whose 'orders'? Some clown who's been dead for 1400+ years? Gee...that shows how much combined intellect exists there..if people cannot think for themselves...

I doubt a senator on Congressman would help you, because there is no US citizen or potential citizen here that might vote for the senator later. If you have family in the US they could contact their local elected representatives and ask for help.

I'm Egyptian. I did my interview last july at the consulate. the woman i did my interview at is known to be a pain and gives people a hard time. She interviewed me and didnt ask much, and then told me im going into administrative processing. after 4 months, they finally changed my status to "please send in your passport". I sent my passport in, a week later my status was turned into "Administrative processing". I called the consulate and was told that it has entered new AP, because new info came in. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?! What kind of new info came in, nothing new came up on my part at all.

<snip>

I heard that consulars through 221G can use their powers to re-adjudicate visas, which is what I think has been done to me. Can you guys help me as to how to get this visa going. shouldnt cases be treated by case by case basis? and prioritized and not neglected like that?

There's only one kind of Administrative Processing: name checks/background checks. This is the part where an Egyptian, that's right - an Egyptian - hired by the US government, digs through stacks of records (if they weren't burnt in some court house arson) for a record that contains a name like yours. It may not be you, but the name is the same as yours. Until the Egyptian finds the motivation to dig through those records, your case and its associated visa application will wait and that's all there is to it.

Don't blame the US government, the Embassy, or the Embassy staff. They have no control over it.

Also, you can't possibly know what kind of "new info came in on" you. Nor can you possibly know that it didn't. Why? Because you can't possibly know how many other people you share a name with.

So sit tight. Either you're going to make your deadline or you aren't.

What the OP does not know is that even in the US, if someone needs a background check for a security clearance (which I have had many times), even I could not call any agency and ask....'gee, how's things goin'? Any clue on when I get my clearance?"...those agencies would have just laughed. So somebody from a country known to harbor bad guys has zero entitlement to some up-to-date status report or expedited processing.

How do I know which US senator is responsible for my case?

And happy new years to you too, I didnt see it. Thanks in advance :)

No US senator is 'responsible' for your case...you are not a constituent of any US senator...they don't work for you. You cannot vote for them. You don't even live in the US. And no senator has any authority over another agency to tell them what to do or when, and certainly not because somebody from some other country thinks that said agency should work faster because they think they are special.

You're really a sad person, you flame every post on this website. I contacted the embassy yesterday and they said that it has been approved couple of days ago, but didnt know why it didnt show on my case online. Anyways I'm getting my visa next week, due to new years holidays and what not. About to book my flight ticket now, see ya :D

I've posted here before, but to keep the long story short. I applied for a student visa, i've been in AP for over 5 months now. I called DOS today and werent able to help me. They told me that the consulate in egypt is still working on it. funny thing is that when I called the consulate, they told me that the DOS is working on it. So I dont know what's goin on now. My university starts on 28th of january but I need to be there on 20th for orientation and i need to book dorms within the next couple of days. Any Advice or help? Should I just randomly send them my birth certificate hoping that it helps clear things further?
