I believe that means if they're STILL dependents. And was the spouse actually a dependent on their tax returns? Or that they merely filed as married together? Big difference between filing together and actually being a dependent.

I think the misread the sentence, should be "any spouse, any dependent children under the age of 21, any other dependents listed on your most recent Federal income tax return..." So his ex-wife should be on his latest income tax return. I guess I will tell him to attach some documents that says he is single now just in case.

Yeah, better to be safe than sorry! Include a statement in the cover letter talking about him being divorced and no longer supporting his wife in any way.

Question for a friend about her co-sponsor. She will be going through Lagos...

The co-sponsor will just have 2 dependants: herself and my friend's husband. The co-sponsor made just enough for 2 people in 2010 and 2011. She made ALMOST enough for 3 dependants in 2012. What do y'all think her chances are? I think she should be alright, but we are wondering since it IS Lagos and all. I'm sure she'll get through NVC but what do you think about the embassy? Thoughts?

HUSBAND'S CASE

9/17/2011 - sent I-13

09/19/2011 - noa1 received

3/16/2012 - case sent to my local USCIS office for additional processing

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

The co-sponsor will be rejected. They don't meet the guideline for current nor 2011.

Get another co-sponsor that made enough to cover 3 and not barely. Way above with a cushion always is best.
