Yup, you can do it all in the same phone call. Although, be warned, you may have to make more than one call as some operators are picky (for whatever reason) about giving out the IIN. Just be persistent until you get it!

Yeah, that's why I'm assuming it's pretty quiet after 5pm because people assume they've closed. But they're actually open until midnight, so.... :D

I don't think it's required, but if you want to send a photocopy, go for it. As far as I know, NVC will look at the household size provided on the I-864 form, not what it says on the tax transcripts.

Because on the I-864 instruction, it says," Your household size includes yourself and the following individuals, no matter where they live: any spouse, any dependent children under the age of 21, any other dependents listed on your most recent Federal income tax return..." That's why I was wondering if my friend should attach the divorce paper.

Called yesterday... maybe a bit soon since it was only 7 days since my papers were delivered at NVC. I guess my case really hasn't been touched yet. They have no electronic record of having my case there yet. The operator said "I am paid and they are waiting on the AOS and DS230 packet." And she said I should give them 20 days before I expect anything.... :lol: yeah right! I started checking for updates the day after they got it. :bonk:

Because on the I-864 instruction, it says," Your household size includes yourself and the following individuals, no matter where they live: any spouse, any dependent children under the age of 21, any other dependents listed on your most recent Federal income tax return..." That's why I was wondering if my friend should attach the divorce paper.

I believe that means if they're STILL dependents. And was the spouse actually a dependent on their tax returns? Or that they merely filed as married together? Big difference between filing together and actually being a dependent.

just wanted to let u all know that i just got my interview date assigned... less than one week after my case closed and its not the first two weeks of the month yet... so everything can happen all the time... march 6th it is :D

god bless u all and i hope u all are soon done with this journey as well...

I would like to join this thread going forward.

I was approved on Jan 23rd and since them calling NVC everyday and till now they have not received my file.

Cheers and I will put 2012 and 2013 as my top patience years:-)

26-Sep-12 - Became US Citizen (I did wait for this to file I-130. I think I should have filed as LPR and upgrade my case later)
