OK, just spoke to another operator who basically said, "why would you wait for the physical checklist? Send it now!" Glad I checked in, thanks again Saylin!

Haha, you got a smart operator that time ;) Did they confirm the only issue was the proof of US citizenship for the joint sponsor?

Yes, she did. I asked if there was anything else, and she said no, not "so far." So that makes me a little nervous but it at least means they've looked at the package we sent, right?

The first time I called, the operator told me they would be issuing a checklist for the passport photos of the beneficiary. I said, "Since we are submitting our packaged electronically, I was under the impression that we could scan the passport photos and then give them to the consular officer at the interview." The operator said, "Oh, actually, there's no checklist for that one, you're fine." So I don't know what that is all about, but the second operator didn't mention anything wrong with the IV package so I think we're good...?

Well, at least send out an email with the proof of US citizenship. And, if it turns out there's something else wrong with the AOS package, you can merely send another email with that other thing that's missing/incorrect. That way, at least NVC will get your first email and attach it to your case. So, no time wasted!

I suggest calling either again today or tomorrow and inquiring about the IV package, just to confirm nothing's wrong with it. Not sure what the operator was talking about. Perhaps they just weren't informed about the EP process...

My wife and I sent in the 3032, via the email template, on Jan 18th. We received the official request for it on Jan 22nd. I called today asking if they had reviewed and excepted the 3032 we had sent and the NVC operator told me; "You shouldn't have done it that way, you need to print out the form, fill it out sign it, scan it and then send it back via email. You sent it too early, they weren't looking for it which is probably why it has not been received."

Your thoughts? Recommendations?

This is the only keeping us from getting invoiced for the 230 packet.

Thank you!

Operator was wrong. With the email template, you do NOT need to print, sign, scan, or attach. The email template is sufficient. Some of the operators are unfortunately not up to date on procedures.

If you wish, you can re-send the DS-3032 (by email template again). There's a Q&A on the first post that will give you a speed boost if you follow the instructions ;)

Nice! It only took 6 days for your file to get sent from USCIS to NVC, right? That gives me hope as I'm sitting here praying that it doesn't take a month for that b/c that will seriously hold me up!

Saylin I've seen you mention that lately it's taking 3-4 weeks to get to NVC, is this an average? Or do you think NVC is speeding up? When should I start calling to get my case number?

I think its just been taking a longer time than normal to get the actual NVC case number. Hence the 20 business days the operator quoted me (4 weeks). But you bet your #### I'm going to call Wed, Fri, every day next week, every day the week after..!

I just called USCIS for the first time in my life. Eh. I am annoyed because the embassy spelled my wife's name wrong at some point. Today I got two notices of action (basically saying the production of my green card has been ordered) and my wife's name is still spelled wrong. I don't know why. She sent in copies of her birth certificate and passport when we started this whole process.

I first talked to one person but he couldn't do nothing to change it, so I got transferred. A woman got my info and said someone will call me back within 48 to 72 hours.

Do I need to send any proof of relationship beside marriage certificate at this NVC step?

Need? No.

If you had scant evidence when you submitted the I-130, though -

many folk submit more with the DS-230.

Please review the 6 evidence types in the I-130 instructions - if you have a new ton since submitting the I-130, well -

submitting it with the DS-230 will be the last chance you have, for a Consular Officer to view it before interview day.

Good Luck, whatever you decide.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
