It's been 27 days since approval and I have not received a case number. Called NVC and they said that they have received a lot of applications at the beginning of this year so the process will be slower.

I am the intending immigrant. I live in Australia with my family - my husband and child are both dual US and Aus citizens

Hubby has been in Aus 27 years and does not have a US bank account, We have a USC joint sponsor and we are working on re-establishing hubby's domicile

Hubby received via email - my Choice of Agent form and his AOS bill.

I plan not to nominate an agent - purely because I am a control freak, unless of course I am advised by the wise at VJ to do otherwise.

This may be a stupid question but i do not want to do anything incorrectly:

Our joint sponsor USC in the US, is happy to pay the AOS and IV bills via the payment portal from his bank account, on our behalf (otherwise I would have to get a Bank Cheque in USD and snail mail it to NVC) Is he allowed to do this?

I'm a control freak too but listed my husband as my agent. I did however use our shared email as "his" email on the form so all the correspondence to the petitioner is actually coming to me as well

I strongly suggest anyone looking for tax sheets soon start submitting them.

I just FINALLY got my 2009 return transcript in the mail and I requested it just a few days shy of (2) MONTHS ago.

But I did the mail version, so maybe as an alternative, DONT mail out for them

Looking at my spreadsheet, Nick1980 just got their case number assigned yesterday and their NOA2 was 12/19. Yours is 10 days after that, so you should be getting your case number within the next 2 weeks, I'd guess.

I NEVER waited for PAID b4 i sent out my DS 230 package ( soon as I hit the submit payment button, i was out to the post office)and would not have waited for paid if I was going to send out the AOS seperately. I will say paid by the time the package arrives their office anyway sdo why not gain those two days or so.

So if I pay the AOS or DS230 bill online I can just send out the package right away? Don't I need to print a bar code sheet? Can I get that somehow before it is marked paid? I live in Brazil and it takes 3 days to a week to get mail 'overnighted' to the states

We are in the same boat... approved on 27 Dec and received an email on 8 Jan saying it had been shipped to NVC but nothing yet! We haven't received an actual NOA2 in the mail yet... should we expect that or does the approval email serve as an NOA2?

The bar-coded sheet doesn't say paid. You can print anytime after you make payment.

Most of us print and ship off immediately. Long as you know funds are good and u know there will be no issues why not.

Oi vey. So we were just approved on the 22nd. And I am hurrying up my joint sponsor on getting their documents to me. But she had to mail request her tax transcripts (right after Xmas she did this) because for some reason she couldn't do it online (married filing jointly?).

Im wondering if I should have her just photocopy her tax returns?? Is that enough?

Do they have to be accompanied by the W2's? Im not sure she has that.

I'm having her include her 2012 last paystub unless she gets her W2 soon for 2012.

Sounds good. She should be able to get her 2012 W2 next Wednesday, she said. Along with her letter of employment. So I will have her mail her 2010 and 2011 1040's and accompanying W2's. So glad my step dad archives EVERYTHING.

Just a quick question for now about taxes. I have three years of back taxes that I'll be sending out tomorrow. With your experience with NVC processing recently do you think the IRS will finish processing my taxes in time for when I need to send in the AOS? If God has sent me this ultra-fast approval from USCIS only to smack me in the face b/c my dumba$$ didn't file taxes I think I might faint!

Since you just got approval, you probably won't have your case number for another 3-4 weeks. Then add another week for the AOS bill to be invoiced and paid for you. So you have almost a month for your joint sponsor to get the tax transcripts sent. When I ordered mine online (I had filed MFJ, so not sure what your sponsor's problem was), they arrived in less than a week.

Welcome to the thread!

Like I said above, you'll have about a month before you can actually send the AOS package. And even if you haven't gotten the tax transcripts back yet by then, focus on the IV track as that needs to be done before the case can be closed anyways. So until NVC has received and accepted your IV package (which should be about 6 weeks from now), you're not holding up your NVC process.

Right, but like other people in the thread have said it took almost two months after doing a mail in request. Mine, from an online order, took only a week as well. But seeing as its already been a month AFTER the holidays, I'm a bit nervous about when it might show up.

While we might have some time, I just want to have a back up plan so we're not twiddling our thumbs

Oky doky Thanks Saylin.Also,I don't know if anybody will find it usefull but we asked an NVC representative about translations for civil documents and was given the answer that if they are on the official language where the interview will take place there is no need to translate them at all.

Like I said in the FAQ, yes, it does state on NVC's website that translations aren't necessary if they're in the official language, BUT I have seen cases where people got checklists for not supplying translations. That's why I do suggest sending them, in case you get an officer that wants to see translations.

To interject on document translation requirements when submitting to the NVC, it's very important to know what document translation requirements are for the Embassy or Consulate where the interview takes place. Some countries require documents to be translated even though they are in the official language of the country, China is an example of this.
