Sad Emily here :(

Who delivers these packages from USCIS to NVC? I secretly hate them! :(

No Kidding! I thought we'd never get to NVC, and I was one of the shorter waits.

FOR my 2009 tax return I had to file an amended return do I put the amount on my regular 1040 on the I-864 or the amount on the amended return? if it is the regular 1040 can I still send them the amended so they can see it?...the amended has a higher dollar amount....thanks in advance once again!

You put the info from the amended return on the I-864. Send both (1040 and the amended one) to NVC with your AOS package. Even better, get a tax transcript, and fill in the data. The transcript will have the corrected data from the amendment.

I can not stress enough to send tax transcripts! When you send the 1040's you have to send your ENTIRE return. Depending on your career and deductions, you could be sending NVC 50 or more pages! A transcript is four pages.

I laughed when I read the letter that accompanied my return transcript because it says it doesn't include amendments.

My return was amended twice though, the second time putting it back to the way it was to begin with so it's actually correct on the transcript lol

Silly, but idk I just found it funny.

I got scared at first because I was like 'well ####### it isn't accurate then' but then I remembered the IRS amended it themselves and they don't show you that either. so... win/win!

Downside, I thought I was above poverty for 2010 taxes but I guess not.

Oh well, I don't think it matters that much right?

Please someone agree with me? =[

HEY HEY. another question.

Bottom of the tax transcript that says TOTAL PAYMENTS

Is that my return? BECAUSE THEY DID NOT GIVE ME BACK THAT MUCH MONEY LAST YEAR! >=[

Oh oh... I found another line that says 'total tax liability' i think I have to subtract that from the total payments line... which makes it more what I remember my return to be.

As long as your 2011 tax returns are above poverty guidelines, your golden. And yes, subtract from the total payments, on the transcript you want the line that says total income after adjustments, or something like that.

Can one request an expedite at the NVC or interview stage?

Like if montreal schedules an interview 2 months out.

Can you prove that you need it like... in 2 weeks or something like that?

Just curious.

Yes, you can. You have to have a REALLY good reason. A friend of mine got hers expedited because NVC royally screwed up her package. (wrong names, birth dates etc.) She paid all her fees at Montreal. Another person going through NVC same time as I did got an expedite for an interview because her father was scheduled for surgery when her interview was originally scheduled. It really doesn't hurt to ask!

Even if 2011 is above poverty, you're not golden.

Because it's about current income as well.

Just because I made 100k in 2011, but i'm unemployed now, doesn't make me approved.

LOL I wish I made 100k any year.

I was above poverty in 2011 and 2012 and currently.

So, I know I'm fine, I'd just rather be safe.

And I always plan for the worst because I'm paranoid so if it turns out I've been having all of these headaches because I've got like a brain tumor or something insane, I'd just like to know my husband's options.

But, here's to hoping we DON'T need to do an expedite for anything like that.

Didn't know you were currently unemployed. Read that wrong!

When talking AOS packages, one takes it that the person is currently employed and has an income. Trying to sponsor someone with zero income is dicey at best.

IF you're income is low for some years; Take proof of assets with you, we ended up not using any of our assets and they were fine with what we submitted.

I was self-employed at the time, so some of my returns were borderline. We had my sister as a co-sponsor for back up and it turns out they didn't need to use it in Montreal, even though NVC demanded it.

They don't ask for the 2012 tax returns until AFTER April 30. I sent my 2011 return in anyway, because I already had it done before the filing deadline, and it showed a decent income.

I took our whole folder with EVERYTHING to Montreal, leaving one section for just the things I knew we had to turn in. Good thing I took it, because the CO wanted to see some original documents that were not included in the NVC package, like my divorce decrees and the first page of 1040 return for the previous year (even though I submitted transcripts) She just looked at them, and handed them back.

LOL Assets.

I have no assets.

I plan to include 2012 anyways since the IRS isn't doing a good job at sending me 2009 so 2012 will have to be the physical return and W2 copy.

Seriously, the only assets I could supply is like 5k worth of action figures that belong to my husband
