ok say here I am on the right thread now :) okay so I have received two emails from NVC and the portal to pay the IV AOS (or whatever) is open noow...does that mean they accepted our DS-3032? or am I waiting on something that says that has been accepted? Wow I am still in shock that we are here now!

You mean you can access the portal now not that you are invoiced? Or what?

Your AOS should be invoiced if not already any day now. The IV BILL is tied to the DS-3032. Since you just sent that you have about 10 to 14 days for reviewed. You will get the email saying to pay your IV BILL when invoiced same with AOS Bill.

**Keep your eyes on that portal for that AOS bill. It should be there any day now.

Get ready, get ready, get ready.

Thanks for the help guys, much appreciated. Now I can relax and know I have things right

One more thing though...when sending the IV package, do I just include in it what's written in all the cover letter samples? IE

Bar-coded Cover Sheet.

2 Passport-sized photographs.

Completed and signed form DS-230, part I.

Completed and unsigned form DS-230, Part II.

Photocopy of the Biographic data page of the beneficiary's passport.

Certified Birth Certificate of the beneficiary.

Certified Marriage Certificate of the beneficiary and the petitioner.

Original police certificates of the beneficiary

Original military certificate of the beneficiary

I read in some places that you also need to send all originals of what you've sent before to USCIS. If so then in what package? And does that include just, say, the petitioner's birth certificate or divorce papers, or does it also include all the bona fide evidence?

And one very last little thing...Where it says in the AOS not to count anyone twice, does that mean that if my wife puts me first as the sponsored immigrant(21a), she(well actually me being she gets to just sign it) needs to put down 0 at 21c? Cause that's weird, but that's what makes the most sense. It's like I'm married but I'm not married lol

Yes thats the list of documents you have to provide to NVC. They have to be originals.

Your (Petitioner that is) Birth certificate nor divorce decree is not needed or asked for.

The IV BILL is all about the beneficiary. This is the Immigrate Visa application.

If you want to send more evidence with your IV BILL (DS-230 package as they call it) you can.

Originals/certified copies (as well as regular photocopies so the originals/certified copies can be returned to you at the interview) are included in the IV package. None of the petitioner's documents are needed, just the beneficiary's (unless it's an IR-5 case).

Sending relationship evidence is optional. Typically only those in high-fraud countries (like Nigeria and China) do this as they have more obstacles to over come to prove their relationship.

Yes, although it may seem weird to put 0 in for c, that's how you do it as the immigrant is already accounted for. Keep in mind, the I-864 is used in other cases, not just a spouse sponsoring their spouse.

So all of the documents that were only sent as photocopies before, they are not interested in seeing the originals? We'll bring it to the interview just in case, but good to know it's not needed at NVC...I just remember reading about it somewhere.

Yeah, not gonna bother. Will take it to interview though.

Yes, now you have to send the originals/certified copies. They'll then get sent to the embassy after your interview is scheduled along with the other forms and documents. At the interview, they'll return them to you, as long as you provided copies for them to keep for their own records.

And yes, definitely bring the proof of relationship to the interview. Not sure if they ask for it at your embassy (they typically don't in Canada), but definitely still bring it, needed or not.

Yup, lots of people ask about that question on the I-864. In my opinion, it needs to get rewritten so it doesn't confuse people.

IV BILL is the Immigrant Visa Bill, the invoice.

IV is the Immigrant Visa, usually coined by NVC as the IV 'set', which is the DS-230 and all of the civil documents.

You keep calling the IV set the IV BILL. grrrr. Maybe we can call it a triple sundae with extra bananas? ;)

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Sending originals of what went to USCIS, into NVC, is not needed.

Petitioner's documents sent in to USCIS with I-130 submittal - photocopies were sufficient, but IV unit wants to see originals on interview day - no need to send in Petitioner's Documents at the NVC stage.

NVC has a requirement of 'originals or certified copies (certified by the issuing authority) plus a photocopy', on the Beneficiary's documents sent in with the DS-230, with the exception of the police clearance certificate (original is sufficient, and it's what is usually sent)

See http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3195.html for the breakdown.

Now, for other stuff into NVC with the DS-230 on IV intake, say bonafide marriage evidence - it's not required - but if you have it, why not send it?

It's mostly known to be required for high fraud consulates, such as Guangzhou IV, see bleuawolf - http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/267559-usa-is-now-arizona/page__view__findpost__p__4100571

Ooph, that's far from Paris.

And oh, I thought you found out on that call that you could go on any Friday. My bad! blush.gif

Has DOS been any help this week?

They keep on telling us we are in AP. and they keep on telling me everybody goes into AP until the Visa gets issued. And here is what I found: (Further AP is not the same as the AP everybody gets right after the interview)

"Some visa applications require further administrative processing, which takes additional time after the visa applicant’s interview by a Consular Officer. Applicants are advised of this requirement when they apply. Most administrative processing is resolved within 60 days of the visa interview. When administrative processing is required, the timing will vary based on individual circumstances of each case. Visa applicants are reminded to apply early for their visa, well in advance of the anticipated travel date.

Important Notice: Before making inquiries about status of administrative processing, applicants or their representatives will need to wait at least 60 days from the date of interview or submission of supplemental documents, whichever is later.

Apply for their visa? Who tells them this? The USCIS,the NVC or the embassy? Sorry, I'm confused.

Darnell, my husband and I mistakenly thought the "supporting documentation" was optional on our I-130 submission (we DID send in everything REQUIRED). This happened because we misinterpreted the word "should" on the I-130 instructions and we thought our required information spoke for itself. We wanted to avoid sending too much and maybe causing unnecessary delay. Anyway, we understand we might receive an RFE, and that sucks, but we have plenty of supporting documentation now.

You mentioned above that USCIS sends documentation to NVC. Do you mean that USCIS sends the NVC copies of the basic required information (marriage certificate, evidence of dissolution of prior marriages, USC passport copy or BC, etc.)? Can we send copies of supporting information to the USCIS before we receive notice of an RFE on our I-130? Should we send our supporting documentation so that it can be added to our file prior to USCIS sending the file to the NVC? Am I overthinking all this? :)

USCIS sends the entire physical casefile, including new stuff added by USCIS (FBI namechecks, adjudicators comments) to NVC. Forget about copies - NVC gets from USCIS everything that YOU sent.

Don't send anything new to USCIS unless you have an RFE. There's a 94.2 percent chance it will never get added to the casefile at USCIS.

Want to send more stuff into the casefile? Do it at NVC, with the DS-230 submittal.

Please note a part of my prior answer was about 'petitioner documents' - you are asking, instead, about 'supporting documents' which, IME/O, is not the same thing at all.

EmilyS, this is good news as ndu's NOA2 date is one day before yours. You should be getting yours this week!

I really hope so Saylin, called again today and they still don't have it, spent an hour on hold for USCIS with hubby and were told they couldn't tell us when it left the NBC, and that we had to write an iquiry letter if we wanted more information and forward it to NBC (we did speak to in ISO), I am so MAD!!! I'm gonna play cool till friday!

ok - that's weird - uscis will know when the casefile left.

If there's no record of it leaving, at all, then it's still in the building.

i say fire off an email to ncsc-customerconnect@uscis.dhs.gov inquiring for casefile location,

include the bio data on beneficiary and petitioner, and the receipt #.

Good Luck !
