Thanks everyone. Here is what I've decided to do. I am going to travel to Chicago (where I'm moving to) as planned tomorrow, minus the uhaul. I am putting all of my stuff into storage here in Toronto. The reason I must travel to Chicago is I have a trip booked from Chicago in 3 days. I will cross the border as a Canadian, just going for travel.

While on my planned trip to a family house in Florida, I am going to get a rushed passport (I am there for 2 weeks). I will then fly back to Toronto, with my US passport and re-rent a uhaul and move all my stuff down, showing my brand new US passport at the border.

It's a hassle but I think it's better than being yelled at and denied entry at the border.

I have to say this is illegal just because condoning legal activity is against the VJ TOS.

But also, with the passport, you can pay for expedited service and get it same day. i believe Brother Hezekial talked about it. said he went and applied in the morning, went off to have lunch, came back to pick it up. It costs of course but that's what I would if I had a trip planned.

Also wanted to add, check this link: http://gocanada.about.com/od/canadatraveloverview/qt/uscitizenborder.htm apparently you can also get a NEXUS card, or enhanced DL or something. See if any of these are easier for you to get before you leave: http://gocanada.about.com/od/canadatravelplanner/qt/valid_travel_ID.htm

Condoning **illegal activity is against VJ TOS.

Sorry for the typo.

Well you can't do same day service in Canada. I'd still have to get into the United States somehow. I

So don't do same day service.

Here's the thing. You are choosing to break the law because it's easier. They don't care that you have another flight/trip to catch. They don't care you made all these plans. Ignorance of the law is no excuse (which is just ridiculous really because how are we supposed to know every rule?).

Like I said, call and attorney just to be sure that you're okay. Or try as the others said to enter with your proof and see what happens. Most likely (in my opinion) they'll turn you away because Canada is hardly a 3rd world country and you could go apply for a passport. At that time they'd flag you as a USC so you wouldn't be able to enter as "just a Canadian".

Just make your choice fully aware of the rules and law involved. i agree with the other poster that I doubt you'll be punished for breaking the law but I do need to at least mention it (the whole VJ TOS thing).

**Edit - what I'm trying to say is. Do what you want/need to do but don't post about it here. Just post when you have your passport/have made the trip because any other post outside of "getting my passport in Canada" would be about committing fraud. Don't advertise that you're going to break the law.
