movies and television are not real life. i hope you don't teach your children that they're one in the same..misleading them into thinking there is no difference could have devastating effects.

i grew up on a steady diet of violent media, both from news (showing real life violence) and movies (entertainment). my son is growing up the same - zombie movies are his current favorite. my cousin just came back from his second tour from afghanistan, he's been a part of real life violence and he watches violent movies. yet he still knows the difference between real and fake.

fact is, every generation whines about violent movies to the upcoming generation. each passing generation thinks that the violence in movies when they were growing up was okay but the current ####### coming out of hollywood is atrocious and something to be feared. blaming media for violent behavior is a cop out.

Seriously I don't know what is making all these wing nuts freak out and kill people. I don't know why more than 500 people have been murdred in Chicago alone this year. I think it's a combination of a lot of things. Meltdown of the nuclear family, no morals any more, no one being held accountable, having babies for sport and then them raising themselves, no discipline for kids, us becoming so desensitized to violence.

What I do know is that an assault weapons ban will have no effect and is absurd. Did not work last time, will not work this time. That is like saying the car is responsible when a drunk driver plows into a family van and kills 6.

So called assault weapons are no more dangerous than any other kind and kill way less people every year than all other guns.

It's especially bad for those kids growing up in households where they are told that movies like Red Dawn have real life relevance.
