Two days ago I received an email from USCIS notifying me of shipment of my EAD card. I did receive the card today. It also serves as the travel document.

Hope the journey is going well for others too.

Please share your interview experience... Thank You

Hello everyone,

So we went to our interview today in San Bernardino, California. I am adjusting my status through my wifey who is a USC. I came in 2000 on a tourist visa and overstayed (I was a little kid back then).

We entered the suite, and the security guard asked for our letter. We gave it to him, along with my foreign passport, and my wife's driver's license. Both guards were really nice.

Our appointment was at 7:50 A.M., but we got there around 7:30 A.M. Two other couples were already there. Those two couples went in first, and my wife and I were called around 8:30 A.M.

I believe the officer was from the Philippines, she was very nice. There was another blonde lady who was also an officer who seemed really nice. We walked into her office, and she asked us the following questions.

To my wife:

Name

DOB

Phone No.

Address

How long we knew each other

How we met

Why did we need a joint sponsor

To me:

Name

DOB

Phone No.

Address

When and where did I enter the country (she asked me this twice)

Was I inspected by an officer upon arrival

Then she asked all the twenty something questions on the paperwork (i.e. Am I a communist, etc.) she even laughed when she was asking me if I had ever murdered someone (or something like that).

To both of us:

Where the wedding was held

Where the reception was held

Who attended our wedding

Any kids?

Proof of marriage:

She took copies of our phone bills, bank statements, pink slip of our cars (both of our names on them). Then she took a couple of pictures from our albums, and pointed to one of our pics of my wife and her father dancing at the wedding. She asked us who he is and I answered "my father in law." Then she took a couple more photos and left to make copies.

About 5 minutes later she came back and returned to us our ID's, kept my EAD and I94. She then proceeded to fill out a Notice to Conditional Permanent Resident Alien, and said she had decided to approve us. She explained to me that 90 days before the second anniversary of my approval I had to apply to remove the conditions on my status. We thanked her, said goodbye, and left.

The entire interview must have taken between 15 and 20 minutes. The entire process took about 2 months and a half.

We'd like to thank everyone who helped us here. We really appreciate it! Now my wife and I can finally begin our plans to travel to Ireland!!! (and Peru!)

P.S.: Does anyone know how I can change my profile section of "Filed for" from AOS (pending) to approved???

Congrats to everyone so far on achievements in your respective journeys. I've been following the other December filers thread with mostly K-1s so I've decided to also post my interview experience here as it will be more useful on this thread.

My interview was yesterday at 9:45am. We got there around 8:25 because my MIL had her interview/oath ceremony at 9. Went through security pretty quickly as there wasn't anyone else there. We were not allowed into the adjustment waiting area because we were too early but the security on the citizenship floor was kind enough to let us sit and wait in there. We headed back to the adjustment area around 9:20, gave a lady at the window our letter and sat waiting to be called in. Finally around 10:35, we were called. As we walked into the interview area, the IO made a joke about how complicated my name is...lol. I get that a lot. We walked into his office, got sworn in and took our seats. Our file was opened on his desk and then he asked for passports, original BC, and my i-94. He then specifically asked for our 2012 tax returns. Fortunately we filed already and handed it over with w-2s. He then asked for additional supporting documents we had. We gave him a stack of bank statements, car insurance, lease, phone bills. I had two photo-books and I had printed out about 6 selected pictures but I decided not to hand them over since I had already bombarded him. I knew he'd ask if he wanted more evidence for our file. He then asked my hubby the following questions:

1) Where did she go to school?

2) What kind of car do you drive?

After that, he turned to me and asked me:

1) Who is your car insurance provider?

2) Who is your landlord?

We answered satisfactorily and he started typing things into his computer. In the meantime, he and my hubby started talking "veteran talk" and I sort of zoned out. He typed some more things, wrote some things on our application and then proceeded to stamp our file. My hubby and me just looked at each other and smiled when we saw the stamp said "approved". He then asked me for all my EADs (I had OPT). He took the OPT one and gave me back the newer one with an envelope and instructions to mail it back in as soon as I get my GC. He printed out an ROC summary and gave us the standard "21 months time" ROC instructions. This all happened in less than 8 minutes. Around 1:15pm, I got the a USCIS status update of "registered permanent resident". Around 4:15pm, I got another one for "I-130 approved".

APPROVED

So here is my interview story guys.... Sorry, little late coming home as I stopped to get champagne..

We reached at Los Angeles USCIS office around 1:25 PM,

Waiting for 35-40 minutes, and an officer called our name, he was American guy, called us at door # 1.. he told us at the door to walk all the way from office#40 to office#8 at the end, where the his office was.

he started by the oath with right hand raised... and we both said yes..

(BTW we moved to CA 5 months back, but applied for CA driver's license last tuesday.... and said by everyone that we'll get that after a month and half by everyone, we got our license yesterday.. I am saying that because the CA license had played important role here)

so he took our passports, took my i-94 from passport. then he pronounced my name, after let me speak my name first

questions he asked

who prepared these documents. we said.. we both did.. oh... so you saved lot of money.. (i wanna say that VisaJourney saved me lot of money,,, thanks to VISAJOURNEY,,,,, )

whats my address = i replied

to my wife- do you live at the same address? - yes

any other part time address to any of you? - no

first itme marriage- yes

any kids- no

saw Illinois Marriage certificate first time in his job life, so he kept looking at the certificate and examined in the detail

was impressed as I came from F1 to H1 visa

said, usually we see people with out of status, you are the other few of kind..

what you have as both of your names on it..

gave car insurance, bank statement, lease (1 from CA - 90 pages, 1 from IL previous) - he said CA lease should be enough,

I asked, you wanna seepictures? - he smiled .. i gave our ceremony pictures, honeymoon album(which my wife gave me as our first engagement ceremony gift-- it can be seen by everyone - )

he asked, you had ceremony too? and we both nodded. asked, how long. we said 5 days...

how many times you changed dress... i was like i dont remember,... 6-7 times.. haha... he smiled

then he was looking at honeymoon album, and asked why you two are the only one in this album.and i said, its our honeymoon album.. and he was like - no wonder you two were only in there.. funny... he again smiled

asked my wife,do you work.. she said she left the job after marriage...

so who's your sponsor. i said, I am sir..

he said you CANT be your own sponsor.. I knew that I can by my own sponsor, but dint want to make him wrong. so I dint say anything.

he said, since when you're working.. I replied.. since July 2009... almost four years. he said almost same time, THEN ALMOST 4 YEARS.. i replied.. YES SIR.. (got me and wifey worried for a bit)

whats your phone no-we gave landline(vonage - IL number) , do you receive that ? we said , yes.. its Vonage phone. runs on internet..

what my phone no- I gave my no- (area code- bridgeport - where i studied....

whats her phon no- she gave NJ no-

he amazed.. ntoed down all numbers.

where is my family - my parents came to visit in US... when they going back - end of may..

where is your family (to my wife).. they live in USA...

then again he asked for ID,. (not the passport).

so I gave our CA license ID (which came yday).. thats when he said. you suppoed to provide CA license as you live in CA now... we both looked at each other.. and smiled replied - yes sir...

he asked, do you have previous IDs... and we gave both our IDs... mine IL.. hers NJ... why she doesnt have NJ.. replied-- bcz after she moved to IL, I had the job offer in CA already, so we dint bother applying for her license.. (we again looked at each other and smiled bcz we both knew that CA license arrival was a big plus point)

he took my new H1 approval notice's copy (as i forgot.. dang it)

printed out my name in a letter, hit print button in his computer... asked me to check my name... and gave me that copy saying.. this letter is for your approval of the application.

we both thanked him. waited for him to make a copy of h1... thanked him again by shaking hand.. said have a nice day sir..

said 2-3 weeks to arrive PRC(Permanent Residence Card)...

took almost 45 minutes(I think its 40, but wifey said 45.. so IT IS 45..)

If I'm not clear at any of this part, feel free to ask...
