Visa To Enter Philippians

I second getting the visa extension from the Philippines consulate before you leave the US. You will save money and time as others have mentioned. I've been to two different immigration offices in Manila and they are hard to get to, cramped, and in my experience the workers are unfriendly at best (rude at worst). Just follow what Juliet and Steve posted above.

Another thing to consider is that once you enter the Philippines, the immigration officer may ask to see your return ticket. If it is for a flight more than 21 days later and you don't have a valid visa, you could have issues. However, I've been to the Philippines 4 times and I don't believe they've ever asked to see my return ticket.

If you do choose to get the extension while in the Philippines, or if you stay longer than 59 days, check out the link katt_henry posted. And here for the various offices where you can do this.

To answer Juliet & Steve's question: You need to mail your US passport for the Consulate General to attach the visa on one of the pages. Please remember to point out the visa page to the immigration officer when you arrive at NAIA & upon departure so the correct page is stamped. Yes, the CG returns the visa in a timely manner (about a week in my 2 cases). My latest paystub was all I used. I've never been asked by BI officials to present an onward ticket. The notary just stamps the bottom of the visa extension application form, signs it & writes the date. You'll need ID, unless you personally know the notary. If you do stay for an extended period in the RP, remember to get an exit clearance from the BI a few weeks before departure (not necessary for short stays, but applicable for several months). I third G&V, it's hard to beat taking care of everything by mail (first class worked for me).

People keep quoting about 3,000PHP, but I think it comes to considerably more than that.

That's because it's about P3,030 to extend the visa while in the Philippines for another 38 days. It took an hour in Olongapo at the Satellite Office for the Bureau of Immigration.

Fees:
