But we're talking about guns being involved in violent crimes, like murder in this story. Why would subway accidents be compared?

would they be dead if they did not have access to the subway ?

It absolutely is. But it's an issue that the pro-gun crowd wants to ignore. Which is why we see all the "ban crazy people, ban baseball bats, ban cars!" nonsense.

In theory, it's not that hard to reconcile 2nd amendment rights with laws that would address gun safety and responsibility. However it's hard to address the issue when their first response is to ignore and deflect the issue.

Okay, you're clearly being obtuse on purpose and not actually wanting to discuss it. I'll leave it to Dakine to deal with.

I said more people die in the subway every year I did not say murdered.

I know. That's why I gave you the 30,000 figure (gun related deaths) rather than the 11000 (gun murders)

Ok .. So you are in favor of banning access to all guns right ?

I am in favor of restricting access to those who should not have guns (criminals, mental health issues, adolescents).

I am in favor of severe penalties to those who allow guns to get into the hands of those who should not have them.

I am in favor of stricter regulations on the types of firearms that are most dangerous and those most commonly used in crime to ensure that they do not fall into the hands of those who should not have them.

Since you are a law abiding and upstanding citizen, nothing I'm in favor of would really effect you in any way.

Actually gun murders where 8,583 according to the FBI but what do they know. Plus what's a few 1000 among friends right.

Severe penalties to those that allow guns to fall into the wrong hands.. You mean by that people who buy guns legally and resell them to others who could not buy them .. I am OK with that

Ok so you want stricter regulations on Hand Guns, rifles, Shot Guns, knives, hands and feet, and assault weapons in that order right ?

No I am using the subway argument to show just how ridiculous a ban on assault weapons is , obtuse no... parody yes

Even though I agree a ban on guns is ridiculous, your argument is flawed. You are attempting to compare MURDER by guns to ACCIDENTS by subway trains and trying to discuss the statistics as if they're similar.

Herschel has multiple problems with debate, he likes to make things up along with a reading comprehension problem. He's fun to play with for a while, but becomes tiresome very quickly.

Guns vs trains/subways is a silly comparison.

So is an assault weapons ban

and it was meant to be silly, " the point is , my subway statement makes about as much sense as an assault weapons ban, when they kill less people every year than any other kind of firearm".

tha's becuse you can't discern fact from emotion, or even make one psot about gun control that does not contradict itself, because you have such a poor understanding of the issue.

People that say they are ok with having pump shotguns and then post pictures of semi-Automatic weapons and having no clue how to spot the difference should sit this debate out

I don't know about the specifiities of guns so tell me what makes an assault weapon an assault weapon?

The manufacturer, originally. Then NRA folks wanted to back away from the moniker once the rifles became popular. The AR stands for Automatic Rifle, although gun nuts now prefer the term "semi-automatic".

a weapon set up to fire 3 round bursts or continual fire with a single trigger pull.

thats because the civilian version of the m-16 IS a single fire semi-automatic rifle.
