Petition mom to the states: what else after paying DS-1200?

Hello,

I am an US citizen and petition my mom to the states. I already completed DS-3023 and also paid the fees of AOS and DS-1200. The NVC took my DS-1200 payment at the end of October, 2012.

Two months passed but I haven’t received any further notification. I am wondering whether I miss anything. I feel so strange that I haven’t submitted any documents, except for the initial I-130. Should I keep waiting until NVC gives me direction? Or should I ask them?

Also, I am curious once my mom’s green card is granted, how soon she needs to come to the states? I heard it is 6 months. Just don’t know whether it is true or not.

You could call NVC and check on the status. It's free.

if so, you need to download the coversheets on IV and AOS,

as they contain instructions for 'whats next'

for you .

Thanks for your reply. If I can mail out the documents next week, do I need to provide further documents afterwards? Now I am afraid that I will miss something in the future if NVC does not tell me anything. Or the next step will be my mom’s interview and medical examination? That’s it???

medical exam done usually after having appointment letter in hand, as most medical clinics want to see it.

Might be useful for you to have some forms and instructions, as I think yer really not getting it.
