Hope this finds you well...

I have posted the link below for you to see what our country was like just 40 years ago, when is comes to a fundamental human right like a citizen petitioning to be with their loved one. While we discuss our cases and petitions, we should not forget people like Richard Adams who passed away today.

Wonder how/why our country will do such wrong? See link below! Enjoy the season with family, because that's what is important.

It's not something we think about often, as most of us are immediately consumed with our own relationships and our own cases, but how very sad that there is currently no avenue for bringing a loved one to the US if you are in a same-sex relationship. I agree with hikegirl ... I'm happy they figured out a way to be together regardless of status.

CURRENT STATE OF AFFAIRS - I-130 petition for married sibling
2016

Jul 5 - Receipt date for I-130 petition for my over 21 brother and his wife (both in the UK)

2024

Feb 23 - Sent USCIS a message asking for a processing update

May 6 - Received an email response saying things were progressing normally but that waiting times might be longer

K-1: Aug 12, 2006 to Jan 17, 2007 - mailed I-129F
AOS: Feb 26, 2007 - Jul 26, 2007
REMOVING CONDITIONS: May 4, 2009 - Oct 3, 2009
CITIZENSHIP: Nov 27, 2012 - May 9, 2013
Note: I immigrated from Canada, not T&T - the timeline is reflective of this.


THE SAGA CONTINUES - IR-5 Story
I-130 for Parents - 2013
Aug ?? - mailed I-130 packages for both mother and father
Sept 10 - NOA1 date
Sept 16 - NOA1s received

2014

Feb 25, 26 & 28 - got emails saying that the cases had been transferred to another office, then to my local office, and then just transferred and are being processed

Mar 17 - got email, attached to one case number only, saying that my A number was changed relating to the I-130 filing

Mar 20 - N-400 receipt date for my father
2021
Apr 21 - Biometrics appt.

2022
May 2 - Interview

May 20 - Naturalization ceremony

I wonder why the Australians refused residency, they do recognise gay relationships for immigration purposes.

Good research hikergirl. So what is our Government doing today for same-sex families? So they don't find themselves in the predicament of 40yrs ago? What if these people are our friends and family members? I would want to see fairness spread across the board.

I looked it up and Australia changed their laws to allow it in 1985.

So what happened in the last 27 years in this case?

Slightly intrigued as to what he died of.

June 7, 2012 -- Sent I-129F to June 9, 2013 -- Religious & Civil Wedding Ceremony in CT

FROM I-129f NOA1 to VISA APPROVAL: Exactly 8 months! No RFEs

Our AOS Process

July 16, 2013 -- Mailed AOS, EAD, and AP Paperwork to December 21, 2013 -- Received GC Card in the Mail!

FROM NOA1 to GREEN CARD in Hand: Exactly 4 months 27 days! No Interview or RFEs.

Our ROC Process

September 21, 2015 -- Mailed ROC Paperwork to August 6, 2016 -- Received Card in the Mail!

FROM NOA1 to GREEN CARD in Hand: Exactly 10 months 10 days! No Interview or RFEs.

Our {His} N-400 Process

Eligible to Apply for Citizenship on September 14, 2016.

October 4, 2016 -- Mailed N-400 Paperwork.

November 8, 2016 -- Completed Biometrics.

May 6, 2017 -- Received Interview Letter in the Mail.

June 8, 2017 -- Interview Passed!

June 16, 2017 -- Oath Ceremony! He is a USC!!

FROM Application to CITIZENSHIP: Exactly 8 months 13 days! No RFEs.
