I got my NOA1 in early August, with the timeline saying i should have a decision by Early February. Could I still get an RFE, or would I have likely already had one? I have no reason to think I should have one, just curious...

thanks!

Welcome to the forum.

A Request for Evidence (RFE) can be generated by the government bureaucracy anytime during the visa process. Check out recent forum threads for any number of examples during the process.

Good luck on your visa journey.

You should be just fine my friend. If you sent in ALL required documentations and strictly followed the instructions then you are good to go! You did what is required so let someone else (an adjudicator) and God take care of the rest! Take the stress off you by not worrying after the fact and over something you have no control over.

Remember the saying: "Let go, let God". Goodluck on your VJ!!!

Lots of people who "read the directions" miss things.

OP, there are two main times people get RFE's. One is when they first file and the person who initially looks at your files notices something like a missing signature or missing form. The second time is typically right when you are going to be approved for NOA2. The adjudicator will approve or RFE your application (hopefully not flat out deny) at this point.

I agree with the comments by amykathleen. When your petition makes it to the front of the line then an adjudicator will review it. That's when they'll decide if an RFE is needed. Until then, your petition is sitting in a box in a room full of other boxes, all stored in chronological order, waiting for it's turn to be reviewed. Nobody is going to open that box, and nobody is going to look at your petition, until that box is next in line and an adjudicator pulls it. When you get an RFE then it means you've made it to the front of the line. This is why most people are approved shortly after responding to the RFE.
