w2's are ok? or we need 1040 tax forms?

Is it neccessary to have the 1040 tax or can i just use the w2s ? I was able to ask my sister to be a backup co-sponsor and she agree in case the embassy said since i just started my new job they want a co-sponsor than we can have her information ready. Is it ok for my sister to just give me the w2s or she would need the tax forms too. Thanks again. One thing more does she need to give me a copy of her proof of citizenship because she said she cant find it? she doesnt have a passport either, will a driver's license or social security card be ok?

You need BOTH or you need IRS tax transcripts. Your sister also needs to include evidence she is a US citizen or Permanent Resident.

She needs a complete copy of her tax return, or a free tax return transcript from the IRS. A drivers license is not proof of being a USC or LPR. She needs to send a copy of her US birth certificate, naturalization, bio page of US passport or front and back copies of green card.

You would need the tax Transcript . As far as showing proof of citizenship she would need a passport or residence card.

Yes, you can use a copy of the transcript. She can even call them and have it faxed to her, or go in person to the local IRS office and get it the same day while she waits.

A complete tax return is required. A complete tax returns includes the 1040, W-2s, and everything that was filed with the IRS. W-2s alone is not enough.

Neither a driver's license or social security card are proof of US citizenship. Even illegal aliens can get a driver's license in some states, and many have SS cards. US citizenship is proved with 1) a certified US birth certificate, 2) a US passport, or 3) a Certificate of Naturalization/Citizenship.

She really should try and find that, not just to be your co-sponsor. You can use the copy of her drivers license and hope it will be ok without it. You cannot provide what you do not have. Since it is for an I-134 and not listed in those instructions or your consulate's, they may let that part of the I-864 guidelines slide.

yes, if we still cant find it by this week or next week than i will copy a drivrs license and email to him to be safe and explain to them we cant find it.

It mentions it on the affidavit of support, it is in your best interest that she finds sends a copy of that, or a copy of the biographic page from her passport. Does she not have a passport? Our joint sponsor was my husband's brother who is a naturalized citizen and that is what we used for proof of his citizenship. You don't want an RFE now, or to be put into additional AP for not having it, they will ask.

Guys, thanks for the great help, my dad was able to have a copy of her citizenship . I knew i can always count on my dad
