Hi Everyone,

Just a quick FYI for those who aren't familiar: Most US Government Agencies and Departments - to include USCIS & NVC & State Dept and Embassies & Consulates around the world are closed today December 24th (Christmas Eve) and tomorrow December 25th (Christmas Day). Add December 31st (New Year's Eve) and January 1st 2013 (New Year's Day) to your calenders as well!

As much as we would like them to be working/processing our cases and petitions, these employees deserve the rest & quality time they get to share with their family and friends. So let's give them that time and hope that they return well rested and fresh to work on our cases and petitions.

Merry Christmas! Feliz Navidad! Happy everything to you...however you say it in your native language!

My favorite is: Happy Holidays to you all! Enjoy the season!!!

Umm my husband called the NVC last week and was told they only have off Christmas Day and New Years Day........

Executive order (presidential order) came out Friday - for 12/24 only.

Yep my husband works for the FAA. I get to see him on Skype ALL DAY today. I wish the order had come out sooner so maybe he would have BEEN here instead. But we're waiting to use his vacation time for when I move... whenever THAT happens.

So the NVC is off today, tomorrow and on the 1st Jan and that is all?

My husband and i submitted what we HOPE will be our final documents before being issued an interview date and were told 'you need to wait 20 working days' that was on the 12th Dec so we are desperately counting down the days. Any holidays they have is really important to know for our countdown.

Thanks for the advice, hope everyone is coping this festive season without their spouses :(

Question:

My husband's scheduled appointment for biometrics was yesterday and we showed up not knowing the offices were closed (it's an hour drive). What do we have to do now? I'm confused and I don't want them to think we missed our appointment...should I call tomorrow? What is standard procedure for when this happens? Thank you!

You go to ASC today and get the biometrics done. For future references, follow opm.gov - the most current notices related to federal workers are posted there.
