I wouldn't waste your time, or your friends time. They are not a requirement and unlikely to matter. They don't prove relationship, they don't prove you're not a criminal, they don't prove anything except you got people to write letters about you or at least the "face" you put on.... In fact, your concern about how your moral character looks is more worrying. I have no concern about that because I have nothing to be concerned about... why are you concerned?

We were required to submit notarized letters of affidavits for the ROC stage from people we knew that would testify we were living together, but not for citizenship.

Our only visit to our field office during the ROC was to get an I-551 stamp in my wife's valid foreign passport because of excessive delays in the I-751 processing. They never asked us anything about proof we were living together. If it wasn't for that, the I-751 stage was just sending in the documentation, just copies, never even asked to see the originals.

Citizenship is entirely different if applying under the three year marriage privilege, There you have to bring in stacks of legal documents to prove your relationship. But can also get in trouble by bring in too much, I made the mistake for tossing in our state taxes, wife's IO didn't like that, but then she turns around and asks for a joint utility bill. Not even mentioned for evidence, but we also had that just in case. Wife told me her IO looked very disappointed that she had that.

This process can make you paranoid, she was also asked three times if she had any traffic violations, wife replied three times, NO. Thank goodness, she didn't want proof that you didn't have any traffic violations, what do you bring in, a blank piece of paper?

It all depends on what kind of IO you are unlucky to get. Some like to play they are gods.
