Perhaps this isn't the best example of federal action as they killed 19 children to get a man who was accused of abusing (2)

did i say the feds were righteous? no. i said if they want you dead - you're dead.

Well it's just one fewer child than Sandy Hook.

What you say however is true. They did however lose 3 agents to kill those 19 children.

For the number of agents it would probably take to do it - it might just be better to post armed guards at the schools dontcha think? Both sides at one side (during the Clinton admin) agreed on this at one time. Why not now?

We lived in Saudi. Their schools and malls and hospitals and other important places are well-guarded and they are guarded against stuff that makes for way, way better TV. Same in Jakarta where we got married. SO: Why not here? Can't afford to?

First-grade teacher Bernice Sterling: “After the first shock I thought for a moment I was blind. When it came the air seemed to be full of children and flying desks and books. Children were tossed high in the air; some were catapulted out of the building.” Volunteer rescuer Monty Ellsworth: “There was a pile of children of about five or six under the roof and some of them had arms sticking out, some had legs, and some just their heads sticking out. They were unrecognizable because they were covered with dust, plaster, and blood. There were not enough of us to move the roof.”

Sandy Hook was NOT the worst school massacre in US history nor have the worst massacres in US history involved guns or shootings. The rabid anti-gun lobby just conveniently ignores this.

in my experience with virginia public schools - everything is done on the cheap. teachers are paid bare minimum in my county. they are paid so poorly that we now have a teacher shortage because most of the highly qualified teachers move over the mountain (fairfax, leesburg, metro areas) for suitable pay. i honestly don't think that we should sink money into armed personnel because they too, would be hired on the cheap. i think the call to arm every school is an overreaction and extremely irresponsible. that being said, i don't believe that banning specific weapons is going to do much to prevent mass shootings either.

the point is: if the feds want you dead or want your guns, they're gonna get em. anyone who thinks otherwise is delusional.

That is the point precisely. Our friend from TX is one of the delusional people thinking that he can stand up to the Feds with his little arsenal.

Well partisan movements have been highly successful in many cases.. Including the founding of our country and more recently in Iraq. No one has ever been able to conquer Afghanistan.

Yes but local National Guardsmen and soldiers with training and combat experience actually have offered to volunteer their time. Ditto the trainers who run the gun safety classes and train law enforcement personnel (most of them I have met or worked with are former military or retired police officers)

I wish to know why not look into this? Why not let trained people guard and secure their own local communities? This is what the NRA is/was calling for consideration. There will otherwise be criminals on the street as long as the justice system keeps oiling their revolving doors.

Nobody said anything about standing up to the feds but you. I was helping you with your delusion of a gun-free utopia by reminding you that the feds can't even manage their tried and convicted criminals or provide basic security to places that need securing but you seem to think that they have the money (thats a joke in itself) and resources to disarm upwards of 40 MM households.

The "if they want you dead" comment is a joke in itself. Here's a list of people they want. Lemme know how effective they are after they trim that one down (and the thousands and thousands of other outstanding warrants). I'll just go into wait and see mode on that one.

You ridiculed the idea that the feds could come and confiscate your guns - you being in texas and all. The last guy in Texas that thought like you did about the feds confiscating his guns ain't around no more. His guns are gone. As is he. Lol about that. I do.

so now there will be no cost involved in this effort - all volunteer? doubtful.

why not look into this? because there's no evidence that armed personnel in schools prevents mass shootings from occurring. there is evidence that such a program would be a multitude of accidents waiting to happen. just today there were three cops shot in nj when a guy got a hold of a cops gun and started shooting - in the friggin police station. one gun in an elementary school is one gun too many. the ends don't justify the means.
