hi everybody, i have a quick question, i was in school for 2009 and 2010 and when ever i received my 1098-T from my college i would scan it and save it to my computer. my question is that, can my fiance take copy of my 1098-T to the interview because i can't find my original 1098-T which i received from my college. i didn't work during those years so i don't have tax return for 2009 and 2010.

so, will it be okay to take copy of the 1098-T, since i don't have the original one?

thanks you!!

IRS Form 1098-T is most often a computer-generated form, with no "wet" signatures, seals, stamps, etc. If you print it from a scanned copy, how can anybody really know that it's not an original?

Whether your fiance needs to take 1098-T to the interview - I don't know. But taking a copy OF THIS FORM is just as good as taking the "original" that you no longer have.

to show that I was in school for those year, that why I didn't file tax return

Just because a person is in school does not mean the person does not have income or required to file tax returns. Lots of students who pay tuition just like you do also work and must file taxes. So, the 1098-T doesn't show anything.
