After sending the I-485 to Chicago, how long does it take, average, to get approval and the scheduled interview? Min? Max? :star:

:energetic: Is there a web page where I can read about this, to understand the timing and different situations people have encounter? :content:

Two things:

  1. Read the USCIS Reviews, filter for your local field office. http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/
  2. Look at the Timelines AOS and filter for your particular field office. http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

This is confusing, because the instructions on USCIS's web for the I-485 no longer say to file at each regional service center:

Family-Based Applications

If you are filing for lawful permanent resident status based on a family relationship with a U.S. Citizen or lawful permanent

resident, file your I-485 at:

  1. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services
    P.O. Box 805887
    Chicago, IL 60680-4120

And in VisaJourney's Step-by-Step Guide on How to File for Adjustment of Status for K1 and K3 Visa Holders it says:

Where to File Everything:

Applicants are required to mail applications to a national mailbox as stated on the forms (not your local USCIS office).

So that's where I sent the packet. Was I wrong?

If you sent your package to the Chicago Lockbox address then you mailed it to the right place ...

If you sent your package to the Chicago Lockbox address then you mailed it to the right place ...

So, how does a case get transferred to CSC (I do live in California)?

Once your file is received in Chicago it is forward to Missouri Service Center (MSC) ... Your EAD/AP (if you applied for them) stay at MSC and your ASO is forward to your local office ...

Now we don't know why or how they decided but there is a chance for K-1ers to be transfered to California Service Center (CSC) ... It only appears K-1s are being transfered there and it seems if your local center is backlogged there is a greater chance of being transfered ... If you are transfered to CSC then you will be approved without an interview ...

Good luck ....

We are waiting two years now. Had two I-131's approved and our application "transferred to the California service center to speed processing" since November 2004.

I hope you've put in some kind of inquiry; that's an unacceptably long time (unless you are stuck in some namecheck heck).

Of course we are not ok with it. Most people's advice is that there is nothing one can do except to wait so I have been waiting. My wife thinks this country does not want her, so it is not good for her, though she is hanging in there. I just hate the system and paying for another I-131 soon.
