I was in Nigeria in sept and we did our traditional marriage with plenty of pics! We then did the civil ceremony at the local council the next day but the photographer ruined all the pics so we do not have any pics to capture that wedding day! We have lots of other pics and I am also planning to visit Nigeria in March, 2013 and I know we will take more pics! Should we re-enact the civil wedding to have pics to show for his visa interview or just tell them what happened and show them what we have??

Do not re-enact. It's a form of deceit. Always best to be honest and tell the truth. Photos are secondary evidence anyway. You have documents or records to show, right?

The pictures are the most important evidence. The CO look at those pics before doing anything else. (pictures speak louder than words).

Its not like you have to show pictures of every single event. I had the same issue. The pictures the court photographer took he gave to us (harcopy) no jpeg, online nothing. Well when I returned the backpack with our pics was missing. Months later when assembling my packet i put a cover-page and stated on it the story of the missing pictures.

Well for us Thank God the backpack was found (14 months later) and for my extra evidence for NVC the wedding pics are included.

You have other pictures, that should suffice. No wahala. Don't sweet it. Please don't sdtage. Lagos even hates poised pictures. So just don't do it.

And for Nigeria Pictures are very much primary evidence not secondary. The more with friends and especially family is key. Visits (the longer the better) and pictures.

Ok I misspoke sorry. Just repeating what I have read. But I still think it is a bad idea to try to recreate the event. I know pics are important but they have other pics and plan to take more on the next visit. And to prove the civil ceremony took place there's some sort of documentation I assume.

Dont recreate it and just show the pictures you have. The traditional one makes more sense to have pictures for anyway, so dont stress about the other photo. If the Co askes then simply explain. You're not going to be denied just because you don't have a picture of one event.

I am sure the situation is like what we went through. Photographer erased memory. But hey its worth an ask maybe they don't.

I am also hoping to get an affidavit from my mother but she has Parkinson's and unable to go to the court house for it! Is there another way I can have that document like have her type a statement and notarizing it?

That's what I did. I submitted typed affidavits from my mom, a couple of close friends, and 2 of the witnesses at our registry ceremony, and they were all notarized.
