It's odd that priests raping little boys does not seem to draw the same outrage from the pope gays getting married does.

Before he was the Pope, he was in Charge of Hiding the Priests who got in trouble with sodomy of little boys.

Y'all knew of that, right ?

Let's be honest, I doubt many of those priest are normal. I mean think about it. Join a group of other guys that wears robes their entire life while swearing off women. Now if that's not weird I don't know what weird is. Nobody in their right mind is going to volunteer to lead that kind of lifestyle.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

I don't know. My grandfather sister lived her life as a nun. She was one of the most wonderful persons I have ever had the privilege to meet. I'm not a religious person but when she explained how dedicating one's life to God and his children offers so much meaning and purpose to her life, it all made perfect sense. Not that I could live that life but I understand why people do that. It's typically not because they're not in their right mind.

Chicks might be different in that regard...not sure, and I'm sure there are some nice priest but it just doesn't seem normal. I mean why don't they allow marriage for priest and nuns? The Jews do and they are the foundation for the Bible. Orthodox also (Eastern Catholics). They get married so why is the Catholic Church so whacked about it?

No but I find it not the least bit surprising. I mean they had to meet in Rome to figure out what to do when they caught Priests raping little boys. I mean you call the police and or kill them. What is to decide ? That cover up and the whole problem I think goes all the way to the top

I watched this documentary once, and this historian had one theory that had to do with the church's systematic acquisition of land. You see, they came up with this rule that priests remain celebate, this started like more than 400 years after the church was founded. So the idea is, that if the priests don't marry, then they have no offspring to leave their land to, but rather it goes to the Church.

Pope names Boston priest new sex crimes prosecutor

Robert Oliver from Boston archdiocese

UPDATED 9:02 AM EST Dec 22, 2012

VATICAN CITY —The pope has named a priest from the archdiocese of Boston, ground zero in the U.S. clerical sex abuse scandal, as his new sex crimes prosecutor.

The Vatican said Saturday that the Rev. Robert W. Oliver, a canonical expert in the archdiocese, replaces Bishop Charles Scicluna, who was recently named auxiliary bishop in his native Malta.

Scicluna's departure had sparked some fears among sex abuse victims that the Vatican might roll back on the tough line on clergy abuse he charted in his 10 years at the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith.

The Vatican office, which Pope Benedict XVI headed for nearly a quarter century, reviews all cases of clerical sex abuse, telling bishops how to proceed against accused priests.

Cool a Boston priest doing the old cover up job that the present pope did for 25 years. They did a great job covering it up in Boston for decades so he must be the right man for the job.

So you think one part of the Catholic doctrine isn't normal, but you're fine with quoting and standing up for the other part.

Our journey together on this earth has come to an end.

I will see you one day again, my love.

Most Catholics are not comfortable with Catholic doctrine, but they do put on a good show, you get your aerobic exercise, and they serve hors d'oeuvres.

A crime is a crime.

The Pope protecting a sexual molester is not different from a wife protecting her husband after he molested their child or a goddam cop ignoring another cop's criminal behavior or a politician looking the other way. They all protect their own, and they are all wrong in doing so.

There are some countries where it's a crime when a man inserts his ####### into the body opening where usually the body's waste exits, as they consider it a crime on nature. One of such countries is Uganda, and they had to deal with Idi Amin, so they are certainly not over-sensible to crazy sh*t.

Other countries, such as Iran, allow a man to have sex with a 12-year-old, and we go gagga over this. So all of this has to be seen in a cultural context which is the basis for a society's moral standards and laws.

I personally would not punish gays for being gay, ever, and would not object to them entering a legal union; but marriage has at least a small component of a union that goes beyond just the legal part, and if you want to allow gays and lesbians to get married, I would really want to legalize polygamy first. I am not a polygamist, but I feel that a man and two or more women who are all consenting adults over the age of 18 should be able to choose to get married if they so desire. Who are we to tell gays it's okay, but Mormons it's not okay? THAT, I think is a form of religious discrimination.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

A 12 year old girl in Iran is not consenting. You think that's moral because their laws permit it?
