So, I thought my file was with Missouri, but I got a letter today from the oklahoma city DHS office (where I live).

It says: "Please submit a copy of your marriage certificate to Marsela with a certified translation by a third party."

Well, here's the thing. The Albanian marriage certificate is already in 4-5 different languages, one of them is english. Apparently the person glanced at it, saw non-english writing, and now I am screwed. What do I do? I can always just translate it myself as it is already in english, and have a friend sign it with a notary. Is that the right thing to do or do I point out to the that ITS ALREADY IN ENGLISH.

Then is goes on to make the following statements:

"You previously submitted a copy of Marsela's birth certificate. Her birth certificate states that she is married, but it does not state who she is married to and when and where the wedding took place"

Now, first of all, note that they didn't actually ask me a question or ask for information, but obviously they want some kind of answer.

Here are two possible answer:

1. If you look at the birth certificate and the marriage certificate, both of which are in english already, you can see that they were generated on the same date, and later apostilled at the Albanian embassy in New York, so, therefore, the wedding certificate goes hand in hand with the birth certificate, meaning that she is married to me.

Or,

2. I can fly to Albania, request a meeting with the Prime Minister, and ask them to change how they do birth certificates.

Anyone have any advice?

Can only tell you from my own experience what seemed to work fine with me. We sent our marriage certificate from DR to the DR consulate in Chicago. They did an 'official' translation of the certicate and attached a letter saying it was a legalized translation done by the consulate. Did you have this done yet? Also got a copy of the original and sent them both together so they could see the original and then the translated version.

I would go with option 1. I like the wording.

You are right. It isn't necessary for you and it also wasn't necessary for them. It works, but it's not required.
